Cancellation of the ‘residence sticker’ is a step to make Customers Happy

Based on the directives of the wise government of the UAE and its strategic objectives, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) always seeks to provide easy and easy proactive services with simple procedures within the framework of its plans to anticipate the future and study it for feedback from the public.  DEWA continues implementing improvement plans to develop services to meet customers’ current and future needs.

In this strategic context, in April 2022, the ICP took an improvement step for one of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Services when it decided to suspend the issuance of the residence voucher to foreigners residing in the country and replace the Emirates ID card issued to a foreigner living in the UAE as an alternative to proof of residence.

This decision achieves a set of strategic objectives, the foremost of which is the consolidation of innovative government enablers in all areas and services it provides, facilitating the customer’s journey and raising the level of satisfaction by shortening the steps for issuing residency, which means saving time, effort, and costs for customers, in addition to expanding the scope of using the ID card in transactions, and moving more towards the government.  Paperless and consolidating this concept in society, and simplifying the ID card application procedures by merging the ID card application form with the residence sticker in one application.

To facilitate customers, ICP has made available through its innovative Mobile application the possibility of obtaining the electronic copy of the ID card in support of flexibility of use upon request, mainly since the new generation of Emirates ID cards issued to foreigners residing in the UAE includes all the details mentioned previously in the residence Sticker,  which enhances the added value It enhances the added value of the uses of the identity card in proving the personal identity of individuals through the presence of personal and professional data, the issuer and other readable data of the card and the Embodied Information and Data reinforced through E-Link Technology.

The third generation of developed identity and citizenship services embodies the fifty principles

Based on the principles of the Fifty Declaration and the UAE Centennial 2071, which stipulate that the human being comes first, and the directives of the wise leadership, and within the framework of its relentless pursuit to achieve leadership and develop proactive services provided to customers. In early September 2022, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security ( ICP ) launched the third generation of advanced services, which includes issuing a new generation of UAE passports and an updated system for entry and residence visas for foreigners in the country.

In this system, the ICP embodied the slogan of the human being or the customer first and granted customers, including citizens, foreigners, residents, and visitors, unprecedented advantages locally and regionally in the field of printing the UAE passport, as well as new advantages, conditions, and categories for entry and residence visas that are easier and easier.

These advantages reflect the insightful future vision of the wise leadership of the UAE and the esteemed Council of Ministers headed by His Highness the President of the UAE, His Highness the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and their brothers, the rulers of the Emirates, and their keenness to make the UAE an oasis for living, working, innovation and investment, and enhancing its competitiveness and leadership.

The developed services system, launched by the ICP this month, aims to enhance the leadership and competitiveness of the UAE among the countries of the region and the world in the field of living and residence, supporting economic growth, attracting investments and talents, and providing proactive services in the spirit and thought of the fifty, as well as emphasizing the humanitarian values and principles on which the UAE was founded.

The new UAEpassport is a new technological leap that enhances the cultural status of the UAE and is in line with the directions of the wise leadership to move towards intelligent government and provide security and safety for citizens in their solutions and travel.

The new visa system is characterized by the development of applied residencies and simplification of their procedures, and the addition of new types to suit all categories of investors, entrepreneurs, brilliant talents, scientists, specialists, visitors, first students, graduates, humanitarian pioneers, the first line of defense and skilled labor in all fields.

The updated visa system includes a new generation of residencies with great benefits and facilities aimed at separating the residence from the employer and considering the contractual relationship, reuniting families, providing flexible grace periods of up to 6 months after the expiry or cancellation of residency, and adding new options for those wishing to visit the country and those looking for job and investment opportunities, and the most prominent of the new residency,    Green residency granted for a period of 5 years, renewable without a guarantor or employer.

The third generation of developed services is a step towards the future, followed by actions and measures that achieve the hopes and ambitions of customers, on the promise of ICP to continue the development pathway and achieve leadership in providing services.

Golden Residency As a Part of the Authority’s Proactive Services

What is Golden Residency?

Golden residency is one of the services provided by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security. Under this service, people who meet the conditions can apply for a long-term residency for a period of five to ten years. This new system in the UAE allows residents, foreign expatriates and their families to come to work, live and study in the country, and to have the possibility of enjoying a long-term residency without the need for a sponsor within the country, and it is automatically renewed. Furthermore, this system enhances the environment that supports business growth and success in the country.
As part of the authority’s keenness to support the golden residency system, the long-term residency visa system has been activated by a decision of the Council of Ministers, which aims to attract the investor who invests his money in the country, the entrepreneur who runs an economic project, and the talented or skilled person, or the leader in different fields of science, knowledge or sports, and the outstanding students who graduated from high school or from accredited universities in the country with a GPA of 3.8 or more, and all PhD holders, doctors and engineers in the fields of computer engineering, electronics, programming, electricity and biotechnology, and those who hold specialized degrees in artificial intelligence, big data or epidemiology and viruses.
The Authority follows the best practices and innovations, and seeks to improve and develop its services as the main pillar upon which all its development projects are based. Family Book … From the Paper-based copy to the Electronic version

The majority of the governmental authorities in the United Arab Emirates are requested to transact using the electronic Family Book; which includes details of family members of UAE nationals. The Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship “ICA” generated an innovative solution by introducing a smart electronic platform, where the governmental entities are coherently linked with each other so that all details pertaining to the family book could be automatically and smoothly extracted; as this friendly-user platform helps in reducing the risk of fraud and faults in data entry.
It is worth mentioning that all services related to Family Book are basically fully digitalized and automated. Meanwhile these innovative services could be easily provided via both mobile devices’ applications and ICA website. Users can easily review and amend their personal information and to apply for availing the services remotely at any time without the need to visit customers service centers to submit their applications.
This top-notch solution assisted significantly in facilitating exchange of data related to the family book between the UAE governmental entities and the UAE nationals in an electronic and integrated way without the need for any paperwork registration processes. This smart service actively contributed to reducing the customers visit to the minimal and thus avoids queuing for a long-awaiting time to avail the service. Furthermore, this proactive initiative sustains ensuring that the highest levels of data security, confidentiality and reliability are maintained by using the UAE Identity Card as well as this step allowed to store family book data and details on “SIM Cards”.

Based on the ambitious vision of our wise leadership to build a digital future in the country, and to devote leadership in the innovation and artificial intelligence field. The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship has launched a digital transformation strategy that is based on 5 main strategic objectives:

  • Improving the competitiveness of the authority in the digital transformation field.
  • Integrated digitization of processes and services.
  • Promoting digital innovation with new technologies.
  • Enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of digital processes and services.
  • Integrated digital culture.

The digital transformation strategy applied in the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship has become a new method in dealing with individuals and institutions to achieve the trend that elevates the information society and spread the culture of digital dealing in all services. The era of digital information that we live today requires us to deal with it and adapt to its requirements.

From this standpoint the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship realized the importance of digital transformation in providing its services, starting from automating its services by 100% and reducing the percentage of costumers in service centers to 80% by 2021. Furthermore developing the electronic platforms and its smart application through entering and registering with an identity and digital UAE PASS, in addition to developing the infrastructure in order to empower and give all customers the opportunity of access to informations and carrying out all transactions on the digital network and smart channels.

Launching a digital transformation strategy in the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship will enhance the confidence in the digital transformation process, which aim helping customers to overcome the challenges and benefit from digital technologies, which will allow them to prepare strategically for the future.

And because investment in human capital is the locomotive of development, the launch of the digital transformation strategy and the approval of the Board of Directors on its foundations and objectives, we have announced an explicit digital charter to support digital culture and institutional digital innovation in the authority among employees, which will enhance their ambitions, refine and develop their digital competencies and retain them to lead change as they are Active ingredient during the transformation period.
