The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, represented by the Institutional Support Sector, organised a health awareness lecture titled “The Harmful Effects of Smoking and Its Impact on Health” in cooperation with Mediclinic on Thursday, 21 May 2026, in conjunction with World No Tobacco Day. The initiative is part of the Authority’s commitment to promoting health awareness and reinforcing preventive health concepts, thereby contributing to a safe, healthy, and motivating work environment for employees.
The lecture was held at Al Shuhada Hall at the Authority’s building in Khalifa City. It was delivered by Dr Ola Mazboudi, Consultant Pulmonologist, who highlighted the adverse health effects of smoking on the respiratory system and various organs of the body. She also shed light on the risks associated with passive smoking and emphasised the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles that enhance quality of life and public health.
The lecture further addressed key preventive measures and medical guidance that support smoking cessation, as well as the vital role of health awareness in reducing smoking-related diseases, thereby positively impacting both individual and community health.
The event also included pulmonary function tests for employees, aimed at supporting the early detection of smoking-related health conditions and encouraging them to regularly monitor their health.
This initiative forms part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to support health and awareness initiatives, enhance quality of life and employee wellbeing, and align with the UAE’s vision of promoting a culture of preventive healthcare and raising community health awareness.
