The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP), represented by the Government Communication Department, organized an Arabic Calligraphy Workshop on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, in celebration of World Arabic Language Day, which is observed annually on 18 December.
The workshop was delivered by Emirati artist and expert Mohammed Mandi, Head of the Arabic Calligraphy Unit at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, who has executed the calligraphy of the UAE passport and the text of the UAE National Anthem, in addition to calligraphic works for passports, national currencies, and official documents of a number of Arab countries.
The workshop, attended by a number of ICP employees, aimed to promote awareness of Arabic calligraphy, its writing techniques, various schools, and its role in strengthening and preserving Arab identity. Participants practiced different styles of Arabic calligraphy, and the workshop also featured an exhibition of distinguished artworks by Mohammed Mandi produced throughout his artistic and professional career.
