His Excellency Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Acting Director General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security stressed the importance of the role of the customs’ activities in supporting the security system in the country, maintaining community stability, facilitating trade and combating customs smuggling operations.
This came during an inspection visit by His Excellency to the headquarters of the General Administration of Customs at the Authority in Abu Dhabi, during which he was received by His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al Falasi, Acting Director General of Customs, executive directors and directors of departments.
Al Khaili pointed out that the country’s customs sector has witnessed several stages of development throughout its history, during which it succeeded in establishing a pioneering customs system and strategic projects that contributed to protecting the country’s borders, providing the safe and smooth movement of individuals, goods and commodities across borders, and raising the level of compliance within the supply chains by facilitating customs procedures and switching to electronic and smart operations, which had the greatest impact on increasing the volume of trade exchange and enhancing the competitiveness and position of the country on the global trade map.
The Acting Director General of the Authority praised the efforts made by the General Administration of Customs in the Authority, as the visit included a meeting with a number of managers, officials and employees of the sector, in presence of the Acting Director General of Customs. During the meeting, various activities were examined, and the existing systems were reviewed, as well as the latest developments in customs issues and projects included in the management plan for 2022.
