Workshop discusses strategy for supporting online services and using digital ID

For the purpose of implementing its strategy 2010-2013 and providing innovated online services in the UAE, the Emirates Identity Authority has held a technological workshop to set forth a detailed conception for the strategy of supporting online services in the UAE.

The attendees discussed the current situation and the future outlook of the Emirates Identity Authority on the services that should be provided and the required infrastructures for supporting and sustaining the electronic procedures. They also drew a roadmap for the coming years on how to work with UAE online services provides to both the public and private sectors.

The workshop reviewed a number of initiatives that should crystallize the strategy and render it workable over the coming years.

H.E. Nasser Mohamed Al Mazrouei, ICT Executive Director at the Emirates Identity Authority, stressed the necessity for all launched initiatives to be harmonious though the requirements of the entities concerned in the UAE and the Emirates Identity Authority’s strategic partners should be taken into consideration.

Al Mazrouei called for studying a sample of the services provided through these entities and work together to surmount the technological obstacles with the aim of reaching electronic maturity that serves eTransformation across the UAE in line with the federal eGovernment’s strategy emanating from the UAE eGovernment.

The UAE had already set up an electronic authentication center at the UAE level with the aim of confirming the identification of the identity of the beneficiaries of online services. For this purpose, the Emirates Identity Authority selected a global system for the world’s best public key infrastructure (PKI) solutions used in both the public and private sectors in addition to an international company to carry out the project.

The workshop saw the participation of a number of the Emirates Identity Authority’s employees from the various departments in addition to the members of a technological team from Morpho, which is the Emirates Identity Authority’s strategic partner.
