UAE Minister of Justice, His Excellency Dr. Hadef bin Joan Al Dhahiri, stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) to adopt and use the ID card in the MOJ systems as it has a vital role in developing the performance and services of government institutions including jurisdiction bodies affiliated with MOJ throughout the state.
The Minister of Justice praised the efforts of EIDA over the last years and its achievements in the developing an accurate and comprehensive population register project along with the provision of an infrastructure for e-linking between the government institutions responsible for all civil transactions. He commended the success of testing some of EIDA’s applications in a number of the judicial buildings in the state which resulted in saving time of paper transactions, which in turn enhances the efforts of MOJ in achieving justice.
His Excellency commended EIDA’s initiative in providing a “hot line” for MOJ for inquiries about individuals and the provision of additional data about them as a temporary stage until the e-linking project between MOJ and EIDA is completed. He said that this collaboration should contribute in saving time which is wasted in inquiring about the defendant persons.
This came when H.E. recently received a delegation from EIDA headed by H.E. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, EIDA Director General, and in the attendance of H.E. Mohamed bin Hamad Al Badi, the Deputy Minister, in his office at MOJ building in Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting, it was agreed to draft a MoU to develop means of co-operation between MOJ and EIDA and to form a working technical group to enhance the adoption of the ID card and its use in MOJ systems and its affiliated courts throughout the state and to identify mechanisms that should develop the level of e-services provided to the public.
During the meeting, H.E. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, EIDA Director General, demonstrated EIDA Strategic Plan for 2010-2013, and its projects and initiatives through which EIDA seeks to serve the public sector institutions and foremost among these projects is the e-linking project with the state institutions.
Eng. Al-Khouri indicated how this important project contributes in developing the performance of the jurisdiction in the state by making use of the database of the population register. Additionally, it contributes in the avoidance of cases of name similarity during listing names of wanted persons or persons against which summons or arrest warrants or warrants of prevention from travel are issued. The e-linking projects should also update civil cases of registrants in the population registers in real time.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of benefiting of the e-certification center project and means of activation of its applications at MOJ, in particular application related to the advanced features provided by the ID card in identifying persons and verifying their identity through the verification feature using secret code and fingerprint and stressing the credibility of the ID cards when used in claims.
At the end of the meeting, memorial shields were exchanged between the two parties.
