A new scientific research by the Emirates Identity Authority titled “Improvement of Identity and Access Management Frameworks” has reviewed a number of ambitious initiatives that the UAE is currently implementing to develop an ID management infrastructure through which to empower digital ID cards. These initiatives are aimed at supporting the eGovernment and eCommerce projects in the UAE.
The importance of the research, which the Emirates Identity Authority published in the International Journal of Engineering Research and Applications, stems from the technological issues it deals with, particularly by the time the public and private sector organizations worldwide are looking for the means necessary to achieve high security levels to ensure privacy and access its corporate resources that are geographically spread across technological environments which are usually different and non-homogeneous.
The research, prepared by H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, demonstrates that for this reason, the identity and access management technologies are currently providing advanced protection systems for protecting sensitive systems, applications and data, improving and exchanging information and further protecting privacy. The technologies are currently used as a method for linking the different infrastructures in the public and private sector organizations, which commonly provide public services to the public.

The research provides a profile of these technologies and attempts to analyze the motives of their applications, dealing with the orientations, issues and challenges related to the implementation of such systems. It also draws an innovated strategic framework for implementing identity and access management projects in different contexts of applications.
The Emirates Identity Authority’s new research is particularly distinguished for its success in launching a set of strategies and solution enablers for developing infrastructures for federal ID systems.
