Etisalat has showcased some of its latest innovations using the ID cards issued by the Emirates Identity Authority. This was during its participation in the Authority’s exhibition to mark the UAE Innovation Week. Etisalat will launch 20 SIM vending machines before the end of this year which are set to be located across centres in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
The services in the machines will be offered via the Emirates ID cards. The SIM cards thus bought can be activated in three minutes. The service will be expanded further in the near future. Etisalat said the service was made possible because of the cooperation from the Emirates Identity Authority, especially the features offered by the Emirates ID’s Digital Validation Gateway.
The automated innovative machine has been designed to enable residents to buy a new SIM card, replace an existing one or pay their telephone or internet and landline bills, consequently eliminating the need to physically visit one of etisalat’s offices to execute any of these transactions. The process for getting the service is very simple as the customer just has to insert his Emirates ID for providing the personal details inserted in the card followed by matching the fingerprints.
