Emirates Identity Authority starts first stage of a project for the structure of electronic linkage with UAE organizations

H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, has affirmed the Emirates Identity Authority’s endeavor and keenness to respond to the data of the strategic thinking that characterizes the vision of the UAE prudent leadership with the aim of implanting the concepts of modern strategic management in the performance of all sectors operating in the UAE and working as per its advanced concepts.

During a meeting he chaired to launch a project for the structure of electronic linkage with the UAE organizations, Al Khouri clarified that the vital objective that the Emirates Identity Authority seeks to achieve through its strategic project for electronic linkage is to support decision- making and provide decision-makers with instant and precise statistical data about the UAE demography depending on the Emirates Identity Authority’s population register, whose data are extremely precise and secure.

Al Khouri stated that the Emirates Identity Authority had already classified the electronic linkage requirements and inquired about the data of the population register system in three major categories; namely, electronic inquiry about the data of the population register system, provision of statistical data, and electronic linkage with the entities concerned with civil incidents for the purpose of updating the database of the population register system automatically.

He pointed out the Emirates Identity Authority had assigned a consulting company to study  the project and set a timeline showing the execution phases of the project, which is expected to be officially launched in the second half of 2012.

Stressing the importance of the projected results of this strategic project, which is being carried out by the Emirates Identity Authority as part of its new strategic plan 2010-2013, Al Khouri clarified that many UAE official entities including Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Justice and other UAE local and federal entities would benefit from the electronic linkage process.

Al Khouri stressed the Emirates Identity Authority’s endeavour and keenness to respond to the data of strategic thinking, which characterizes the vision of the UAE prudent leadership for implanting the concepts of modern strategic management in the performance of all sectors operating in the UAE and working as per its advanced concepts.

Meanwhile, H.E. Eng. Nasser Mohamed Al Mazrouei, ICT Executive Director at the Emirates Identity Authority, clarified that the project related to the structure of electronic linkage, which the Emirates Identity Authority is carrying out with the UAE organizations, is aimed at providing linkage services with a number of UAE government entities for the purpose of updating the files of individuals and instantly maintaining the accuracy of the data as part of a secure mechanism that takes the world’s protection and privacy criteria into consideration.

The electronic linkage project would contribute to bolstering the personal identity in the UAE while maintaining a secure and precise register of the population and providing innovated online services in a bid to achieve one of the Emirates Identity Authority’s most important and prominent strategic objectives as embodied in developing a secure and integrated infrastructure that would enable data to be obtained and exchanged, he said.

The electronic linkage structure would allow the provision of people-related data, whether personal or biometric data, he added, noting that the linkage structure depends on the concept of “Service Oriented Architecture”, taking into consideration the latest applications available in this connection.

Al Mazrouei pointed out that the project would start to be implemented in the organizations concerned with civil incidents of the individuals of the society, which include but are not limited to (birth, marriage, divorce, death, education and health register), noting that during the advanced stages of the project the Emirates Identity Authority would expand the scope of the project to cover the other UAE organizations concerned with dealing with the UAE individual’s file within a pre-set time plan.the

The Emirates Identity Authority is developing a statistical program for providing statistical data for such requesting entities as the National Statistics Center and other concerned entities, he said, noting that the Emirates Identity Authority had already set a program for organizing and holding many dedicated workshops with the UAE concerned organizations with the aim of knowing the procedural and technological requirements of the project and consequently producing the general architecture and integration samples of electronic linkage.

It is noteworthy that the Emirates Identity Authority is implementing a number of harmonious initiatives to reach electronic maturity and integration in line with the relevant UAE strategies, which are aimed at consolidating eTransformation across the UAE and supporting it in all UAE organizations by setting up the electronic authentication center for the purpose of identifying the identity of the beneficiaries of electronic services and launching an ID card reader that enables the UAE organizations to deal with the ID card and read the contents of its electronic chip.
