H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, unveiled that the Emirates Identity Authority was able to print 1.4 million new and renewed ID cards between January and March 10, 2012, i.e. in 70 days only.
In statements published by Al Bayan newspaper, Al Khouri said printing this number of cards reflected the growing demand for registering in the population register and ID card system and renewing expired ID cards as shown by the huge number of customers who thronged the typing centers or visited the Emirates Identity Authority’s website to fill out registration forms, particularly with the forthcoming expiry of the registration and renewal deadlines in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Al Khouri noted the government and semi-government entities that adopted the ID card as a key document for benefiting from their services, as this played a major role in raising the number of registrants and the issued and renewed ID cards and hence reflected on the number of printed cards.
