National Health Insurance Company (DAMAN) has announced the suspension of printing health insurance cards for “Thiqa” subscribers gradually as of the next November, so that Emirates ID will be the only ID card that will qualify them for having health care services from their medical providers within its network.
“DAMAN” stated in a report posted by the newspapers today that more than 2 million transactions have been registered since the beginning of 2017 using Emirates ID, through the network of authorized medical service providers. DaMAN stated that the results are the result of the company’s efforts since announcing the initiative for the first time in 2015 and officially launched it in April 2017, to ensure that the systems are ready for a full transition to the use of Emirates ID.
Hamad Abdulla Al Mahais, Chief Operating Officer, DAMAN, said the company has spared no effort to develop its e-applications and services to reach full readiness towards Emirates ID card reliability as an alternative to the health insurance card.
DAMAN indicated that its announcement to stop printing health insurance cards comes at a time when the company is making final preparations to stop printing health insurance cards to all its subscribers as a next step in the coming period.
