The Emirates Identity Authority has extended the warmest greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may Allah protect him, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may Allah save him, Supreme Council Members and Ruler of Emirates, General His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Emirates Identity Authority, and Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Emirates Identity Authority, for their support and sponsorship of the Federal National Council (FNC) elections, which recently took place in the UAE and were described as “national wedding par excellence”.

Marking the occasion, H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, hailed the prominent role  played by the Emirates Identity Authority’s staff in making a success of this second democratic experience witnessed by the UAE the day before yesterday.

Al Khouri forwarded a “from heart to heart” message to the Emirates Identity Authority’s employees in which he thanked and appreciated all those who contributed to the success of this national asset, irrespective of the size and nature of the task they accomplished during this event, the success of which is a source of pride to all UAE people.

The Emirates Identity Authority had the honor to participate in the first parliamentary experience which the UAE witnessed in 2006 and had also the honor of participating for the second time in managing and organizing this leading experience, which showed the UAE prudent leadership’s belief in bolstering the political participation, this being an integral part of national progress and comprehensive development, Al Khouri said.

The Emirates Identity Authority’s representation in the FNC elections 2011 was honorable and its most prominent achievement was embodied in the dependence of electronic voting on the digital ID card, not to mention the Emirates Identity Authority’s pivotal role as a member of the National Electoral Commission and its chairmanship of the Infrastructure Committee, which shouldered the responsibility of developing the electronic voting system and supervising the readiness of the technological aspects related to this advanced system across the UAE, he added.

Al Khouri pointed out that more than 400 Emirates Identity Authority staff from both sexes participated over the past months in preparing for this national event and took part in the long election day by managing the verification of voters’ data as well as receiving voters, offering technical support to them and discharging other administrative and logistic tasks. The efforts that the staff exerted contributed effectively to making a success of the voting process in general and to rendering the electronic voting process extremely easy, transparent and fair, not to mention other advantages as saving time and ensuring fast voting, he said.

Al Khouri noted that the Emirates Identity Authority’s successful role in the FNC elections was reflected by the satisfaction of the majority of voters with the electronic voting system, according to the news published in the different local and international mass media and the feedback of the different entities concerned with tracking the events on the UAE election day.

Al Khouri urged all the Emirates Identity Authority staff to keep up the good work in line with the strategic objectives for which the Emirates Identity Authority was established and with the aspirations of the UAE prudent leadership.
