Cooperation between “Emergencies and Crises” and “Identity and Citizenship” to strengthen the customs control system

The National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, represented by the General Administration of Customs, held a joint coordination meeting to start implementing the customs control system on shipping and logistics operations for land transportation at the national level, in addition to strengthening cooperation frameworks between the two sides and several entities within the framework of activities and areas of common interest.

The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Obaid Rashid Al-Hussan Al-Shamsi, Vice Chairman of the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management, and in the presence of His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al-Falasi, Director General of Customs at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the Cyber Security Council of the UAE Government, and Brig. Engineer Hussain Ahmed Al Harthy, Director General of Smart Services and Digital Security at the Ministry of Interior, and several officers and officials from various relevant federal and local authorities.

During the meeting, His Excellency Obaid Rashid Al-Hussan Al-Shamsi pointed out the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in vital sectors, and said: “The customs control system is a vital basis for achieving security, and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security plays important and prominent roles in this field, as cooperation between the two authorities is Important in supporting strategic plans to achieve security and steadfastness and striving towards unifying the emergency and crisis management community in all important sectors.”

The meeting also addressed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of implementing the new national system to enhance the customs control system at the state level, discuss developments related to the procedures governing the project, and the progress of operational processes and aspects of support that can be provided in this regard.

For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al Falasi, Director General of Customs at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, affirmed that the existing and joint coordination with the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority comes as part of complementary efforts with strategic partners in order to achieve common national goals.
