The Emirates Identity Authority stated that last January more than 500,000 people across the UAE filled out ID card registration forms via its affiliated typing centers and the e-form service on its website.
In statements to the Emarat Al Youm newspaper, the Emirates Identity Authority attributed the rise in the number of registrants in the population register system and ID card over the past period to the activation of the grace periods given to each category of the population before the application of the Cabinet-approved delay penalties. While most of the registrants were keen on speeding up registration, government and non-government organizations set a condition for their customers that the ID card is mandatory for benefiting from their services, the Emirates Identity Authority added.
The Emirates Identity Authority said all the UAE population can now submit application forms for ID cards through its website, which allows first time registration in ID card, renewal of expired ID cards and replacement of damaged or lost ID cards in addition to inquiring about the status of the application form through the same user.
The Emirates Identity Authority affirmed that the service of electronically filling out registration forms contributed to increasing registration rates in the current period, particularly that it enabled customers to complete the first stage of registration wherever they were in an easier and faster manner.
The Emirates Identity Authority also confirmed its determination to complete registering all the UAE population over the coming period as part of the set strategy. It also affirmed that the population register program is a leading national project that comes as part of the significant development plans in the UAE. The program is regarded as one of the government initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development and growth in all aspects of life, not to mention that it is one of the most significant eGovernment projects.
As per its strategy, the Emirates Identity Authority seeks to be the key reference for proving personal identity and providing UAE demographic data and innovated electronic services.
