The General Administration of Customs at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security has completed linking the system of Fujairah Customs Department with the Emirates customs platform as part of the first phase of the project to link federal customs systems. This linking allows the two parties to exchange customs declaration information and its attachments.
On this occasion, His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al Falasi, Director General of Customs, said that the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, in cooperation with local customs departments, seeks to develop customs systems in the UAE and achieve global leadership in the field of customs work through the implementation of the project to link federal customs systems, which supports the security system and contributes to facilitating trade with the rest of the world.
The Customs Systems Link project includes developing a digital platform and a system for linking and integrating the customs systems applied in the local customs departments and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, allowing the flow of information and data and their exchange between the federal and local levels by withdrawing and processing data and information according to the requirements of the Authority. The project consists of a federal customs risk engine that serves the security projects in the Authority and the customs sector in the country, in addition to a unified platform for prevention and restriction authorities, a federal control panel for statistical data, as well as a federal system for registering companies and customers.
His Excellency stressed that the project aims to unify the work mechanism and outputs of customs operations in the country, and to provide proactive customs services that meet the needs of customers and raise the level of the country’s competitiveness in global indicators related to customs work.
His Excellency the Director General of the General Administration of Customs praised the level of constructive cooperation provided by the Fujairah Customs Department in implementing the project with the required specifications and quality, which contributed to the completion of the project on time and the success of the linking process at the target level, noting that the Authority is continuing to implement the linkage plan approved by the senior leadership with the rest of local customs departments according to the time plan, stressing the keenness of the Authority and the General Administration of Customs to provide all forms of technical support required to achieve and complete the linking process at the state level on time.

Strengthening the strategic partnership
For his part, His Excellency Rashid Mohammed Hammad, Director General of the Fujairah Customs Department, said: “The project to link customs systems represents an important step in developing the customs work system in the country and strengthening the strategic partnership between the Authority and customs departments at the federal and local levels, which contributes to enhancing community security and facilitating trade in the UAE with business partners in the world”.
He explained that the completion of the process of linking with the local customs in the country will save time and effort for the customs authorities in inferring, and exchanging security data between customs departments with increasing ease. The data bank provides the importer or customer traveling between one emirate and another the option to complete the customs services he needs across the maritime, air and land sectors in the country at a distinguished level and high quality, which supports decision makers in making the right customs decisions in a proactive manner.
