The United Arab Emirates attained a distinguished continental achievement through participation in the Fifth Governments Future Summit Conference during which the E-Government Project, currently implemented by the country by way of issuing the ID card by the Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID), was ranked as one of the best five out of 500 projects in Asia.
The committee which has evaluated the projects submitted to the Conference, which concluded its proceedings the day before yesterday evening in Bali, Indonesia, recommended approving this distinguished project as a model for best practices and future projects; and registering it in the specialized file to be published by the Conference organizers in their magazine concerned with governmental projects in Asia.
Commenting on this achievement, His Excellency Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, Emirates ID’s Acting General Director, praised the rational leadership’s wise vision and adoption of the Population Register & Identity Card System which is considered one of the most prominent strategic projects sponsored by the country for the purpose of advancing its services; establishing its international and global status in the field of using modern technology for the best interest of the country and citizens.
In addition, he expressed pride in the unlimited support provided to Emirates ID by the rational leadership for the purpose of enabling it to achieve its vision and mission; attain its strategic goals by registering all nationals and residents in the Population Register & Identity Card System in order to establish a solid governmental system for managing identity and personal identification, a matter which will, in turn, support the process of automating all governmental transactions through electronic government solutions and correlated technological environment that can provide all community services and, at the same time, save effort and time and contribute to letting individuals really live in the age of technology.
His Excellency Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri highly appreciated the role of those authorities concerned with E-government projects in the country as well as their active, vital and important contributions in enabling this great project to achieve its strategic goals.
He emphasized that the Emirates ID will exert its utmost to perform its roles and responsibilities which will contribute to achieving its strategic goals referring to the fact that Emirates ID is keen to provide all the needs of governmental authorities including encryption infrastructure, e-signature and other infrastructures affecting the journey of active e-transformation.
Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, UAE’s representative in this Conference, mentioned a special working paper on (investment returns of strategic projects and programs in the governmental sector) saying that participation in such international forum has achieved the required success through exchanging expertise and information and presenting successful experiences and distinguished models in the United Arab Emirates in the field of investment returns of strategic projects and programs specially those related to information technology in the governmental sector which is considered one of the most important vital sectors which the country is keen to sponsor and provide it with all forms of support with the aim of enhancing its social, cultural, economic and political roles.
Emirates ID’s Acting General Director indicated that the advanced rank achieved by the country through its participation in the Conference under the logo (Best in Class), emphasizes UAE’s leading role in establishing and enhancing state-of-the-art infrastructure, and provides another evidence on the unique location and distinguished status of our country on the international technological map which constitutes the cornerstone of this age.
UAE’s participation in the Governments Future Summit Conference, he added, has impressed organizers and evaluators. The UAE presided over the main session of the third day proceedings in this Conference, which gained a wide international participation by prominent governmental figures and delegations representing different governmental authorities concerned with the topics discussed throughout the Conference.
Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohammed Al Khouri noted that the Summit discussed many specialized subjects within the framework of modern methodologies that could meet challenges and achieve targets, referring to the importance of conducting specialized studies in measuring the investment return on information technology on the long term, its role in improving the government performance and building educational and training grounds which will positively reflect on the management of this vital sector
