The General Department of Identity and Passports at the Customer Happiness Center of Ras Al Khaimah, in collaboration with the Civil Defense Department of Ras Al Khaimah, organized an awareness-raising workshop on “How to deal with emergencies and implement an evacuation drill”.
The workshop, which was held on the morning of March 08, 2023, aimed to educate employees about the procedures, standards and mechanisms that are adhered to in emergency situations that could occur in the work place, in order to ensure business continuity and protect employees and customers from potential dangers.
During the workshop, First-Warrant officer Abdullah Ahmed Al-Mutawa from the Civil Defense Department reviewed the features and elements of the awareness-raising program on how to face risks and act in cases of emergency, especially in when a fire breaks out in the building. The program included a theoretical lecture and a practical exercise, which represented the evacuation process in emergency situations and how to act in the event of a fire in the building. At the end of the workshop, the lecturer and the delegation of the Civil Defense Department were honoured.
On the other hand, the Customer Happiness Center of Ras Al Khaimah successfully implemented the evacuation drill according to the plan developed by the emergency management team at the center. The experience of the evacuation drill comes within the framework of the efforts of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security to carry out practical exercises and enforce the management of environment, health and safety system, and to complement the various activities and services that contribute to enhancing protection of society members, and to identify the necessary measures that must be taken in case of emergencies according to safety and prevention requirements.
The work teams managed to complete the evacuation drill within 5 minutes, which is a record, as a result of the rapid response by employees and customers, who after hearing the warning bell, moved quickly to the emergency exits and gathered at the assembly points.
