Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Emirates Identity Authority, has affirmed the UAE leadership’s determination to adopt the modern development concepts in all ministries and government organizations, entities and authorities.
During his presentation of the booklet of the Emirates Identity Authority’s Strategy, Sheikh Saif has reiterated the leadership’s support of all the national strategic projects and initiatives including the population register and ID card project, which is being implemented by the Emirates Identity Authority.
Sheikh Saif went on to say: “In this connection, the Emirates Identity Authority derives its determination and insistence to carry on the process of development and modernization from the government directives of General His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Forces and Chairman of the Emirates Identity Authority, using and advanced strategic mode of thinking for the purpose of achieving the supreme leadership’s vision honestly and sincerely.”
He added: “Hence, I can say that the Emirates Identity Authority’s new strategy 2010-2013 is an ambitious strategy compatible with the federal government’s strategy and the UAE vision 2021. It is also rich in strategic initiatives and projects that highlight the Emirates Identity Authority’s effective role and show its positive contribution to the future of development in the UAE.”
Sheikh Saif went on to say: “Great hopes are pinned on this strategy which is integrated in terms of its vision, mission, objectives and national strategic projects, thanks to its role in assisting the eGovernments operating in the UAE and enabling them to employ the positive results of the Emirates Identity Authority’s projects and initiatives in developing and upgrading the system of services provided to the public, both quantitatively and qualitatively, for the purpose of pushing growth forward and consolidating the aspects of security, safety and prosperity in our country.”
The strategy development stage included the conducting of analytical studies according to scientific and practical methods within the general framework set by the UAE Ministry of Cabinet Affairs with respect to developing the strategies of government organizations.
This stage took into consideration the most notable challenges as well as the lessons taken from the first stage of the Emirates Identity Authority. It also included the making of comparisons with the best practices in a number of countries of the world, which are known for excellent ID card and population register projects, with the aim of setting the general objectives of the strategy and launching the projects and initiatives that enable the Emirates Identity Authority to achieve all its strategic objectives while focusing on results and not outputs.
The Emirates Identity Authority’s new strategy is based on four major themes; namely, developing a realistic and effective plan for registering the UAE population; establishing an infrastructure to verify the personal identity, confirm digital identities and support eGovernance projects; ensuring electronic connection with the government departments concerned with civil incidents, these being the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in addition to other local authorities concerned with such incidents; and developing the concepts of excellence in customer service in all the services provided to the public to gain the customers’ satisfaction and confidence, this being the objective that the Emirates Identity Authority deal with as one of its most important priorities in the coming stage.
