The General Administration of Customs at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security, and Ajman Port and Customs Department held talks on ways to enhance customs cooperation, develop operations, link customs systems, secure and raise the efficiency of customs ports in the UAE, and increase the ability to meet the continuous increase in the volume of foreign trade in the country.
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Port and Customs Department, received His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al Falasi, Director General of Customs at the Authority, on a visit in which he was accompanied by His Excellency Alia Mohammed Al Marmoom, Executive Director of the Customs Affairs Sector at the General Administration of Customs, and in the presence of several managers and officials from both sides.
On this occasion, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Port and Customs Department, stated that this meeting aims to enhance and support joint cooperation and to consolidate the relationship between the Port and Customs Department and the General Administration of Customs at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security in order to serve common goals and coordinate future plans and projects in accordance with the best practices and standards to improve the work system and to serve the objectives and aspirations of the customs sector in the UAE.
During the visit, the two sides discussed the mechanism of enhancing cooperation in the application of customs systems implemented by the General Administration of Customs at the Authority, and providing the necessary requirements to connect the Ajman Customs Department with those systems, the most important of which are the national system for tracking trucks and shipments electronically, and the project to link customs systems with the federal system adopted by the General Administration of Customs to facilitate the exchange of data and information related to customs data and the country’s foreign trade in real-time, in addition to the project of securing customs ports in the country by the teams of the customs security inspection unit around the clock.
His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al Falasi, Director General of Customs, said that the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, represented by the General Administration of Customs, in cooperation with local customs departments, seeks to develop and link a number of customs projects and systems that support customs control and inspection at border ports, and contribute to expediting customs and economic decision-making by exchanging customs data and information in real time with local customs departments through electronic linkage of systems.
His Excellency the Director General of Customs valued the support of the visionary leadership of the Emirate of Ajman for the customs and trade sector in the Emirate, and its keenness to support federal customs initiatives and projects and provide them with all aspects of support to link customs systems.
His Excellency praised the level of cooperation and support provided by Ajman Customs to develop customs work at the state level, achieve global leadership and enhance competitiveness in global indicators, stressing that the development and expansion operations that are being implemented in Ajman ports and customs will contribute significantly to achieving the desired leadership and excellence, as well as enhancing the emirate’s contribution in the growth of the country’s foreign trade exchange with the rest of the world.
His Excellency explained that the customs projects and regulations implemented by the General Administration of Customs in the Authority in cooperation and linkage with local customs departments will have positive effects, as well as support sound commercial practices and combat smuggling of narcotic and dangerous substances, noting that the national customs projects package enjoys the support of the UAE government and the interest of the leadership of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security to enhance the security system and provide the country with sustainable economic growth.
