The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) has declared that it is to participate in the 37th GITEX Technology Week 2017, to be held next Sunday in Dubai, highlighting the fact that FAIC shall unearth two of its most cutting-edge innovations during the 2017 GITEX events, namely:

NFC fingerprint reader and “MY Shadow Data” system.

On one hand, FAIC’s NFC fingerprint reader properly functions in contrast to traditional fingerprint scanners that need physical contact of fingerprints; thus, providing FAIC’s Customer Happiness Centers with state–of–the art methodologies verifying that the ID applicant is a first – time applicant and is not listed in the Population Register. Consequently, this would result in higher satisfaction levels of customers, and encapsulate the procedures and time needed for carrying out their respective transactions.

On the other hand, “My Shadow Data” initiative makes it easy for the ID holder enrolled in the said initiative to provide his/her personal data in different sectors (E.g. health, education, etc.) to service providers; therefore, enabling service providers to handle and use customers’ stored data in the Population Register pursuant to mutual agreements executed between parties.

Moreover, FAIC shall also reveal its innovative ID card reader software along with its ID card data reader application via NFC technology for smart mobile phones and tablets.

FAIC’s innovative ID card reader seeks to develop and complement a set of integrated software devoted to processing ID cards through a variety of programming languages compatible with different smart ID card readers; the thing that would enable both government and private entities to handle cards and read the contents of smart chips.

Furthermore, this software allows service providers to process ID cards via diverse smart devices on all operating platforms (E.g. Apple (IOS), Android and Windows); hence allowing different entities to make use of the services provided by FAIC’s Validation Gateway (VG) to enhance its capacity of providing online smart services via smart phones using ID cards, and in conformity with the strictest standards of security and credibility in handling and recognizing customers’ IDs on digital space.

NFC ID card reader software allows reading smart chip data through a wide array smart mobile phones and tablets together with equipping institutions and entities of different natures with modern and user – friendly means to read data stored on card’s smart chip whilst uploading such into respective systems and software in seconds. This would accordingly shrink the effort and time needed for data entry and consummating transactions, in addition to an error – free process apart from traditional data entry methods.

Moreover, Director General of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, H.E. Dr. Saeed Abdullah bin Mutlaq Al Ghafli, has assured that FAIC is persistently moving towards developing excellence leading technological initiatives that support applications and features of ID card, the matter which participates in facilitating completion and upgrade of customers’ services.

Dr. Al Ghafli said that through participation in 37th GITEX Technology Week, FAIC’s seeks to get familiar with the latest technologies and developments together with the ever-increasing world upsurges in the arena of information technology and data processing, whilst employing such to come up with innovative services that contribute to citizens’ welfare and spare time and effort.

Besides, He adds that FAIC is eager to convene and exchange experience with other participants in GITEX events, while striving for utilizing their presented projects, ideas and technologies to feasibly use the aspects compatible with FAIC’s priorities and aspirations toward its services of issuing, renewing and replacing ID cards pursuant to the established practices. In additions, this includes other services pertaining to ID validation whether in a traditional paper form, via digital space or other smart services.

Dr. Al Ghafli maintains that FAIC will ensure to familiarize its booth’s visitors with the merits and uses of ID cards, along with accessible services and other services to be added in the future, with a goal of becoming the leading service card and most fundamental in people’s every – day life. Nevertheless, FAIC will seek to shed the light on its latest cornerstone projects in government and economic shifting together with enhancing UAE security and world – wide competitiveness as well as highlighting the roles undertaken by FAIC as one of the leading government institutions preciously contributing to sustainable development and shift to Smart Government, with an ultimate goal of improving community and individuals’ security as well as decision-making process.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship is participating with a booth under the Federal Government platform, introducing services provided for institutions and individuals by Validation Gateway; one of the most significant projects of infrastructure development undertaken to support shifting towards Smart Government, along with verifying individuals’ IDs via digital space; hence facilitating handling and consummating online transactions and trade exchanges. Furthermore, FAIC shall introduce its smart mobile application, that allows customers to carry out a wide array of ID – related transactions via their mobile phones whenever and wherever needed.
