Emirates Post announced taking several measures to facilitate the ID card delivery mechanism to clients by providing many options for clients to choose from to receive their cards easily and conveniently. Such measures include increasing the number of working hours in some offices that witness significant number of customers and increasing the number of employees in these offices, as well as opening them on Fridays.
Ibrahim Bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Post Group said in statements published by the Emarat Al Youm newspaper, that Emirates Post coordinated and agreed with major companies to deliver their employees’ cards to their headquarters without the need for them to come in person to the post offices. The number of delivered cards through this service reached 281,000 cards. Emirates Post also sought to activate the “Public P.O. Box” service for customers who do not have P.O. boxes. Such service enables applicants for new ID cards or renewal of expired cards to enter the public P.O. Box number of their area of residence. By this, they do not need to visit the main centers and can therefore avoid overcrowdings. Platforms are also allocated to women to respect their privacy and to save them time and effort so that they do not need to wait long in lines.
Bin Karam also stated that: “A client has 90 days to pick up their ID card after receiving an SMS notification of ID card arrival. This gives ample time to clients to go to the post offices whenever suitable and at the same time it reduces pressure for us by avoiding overcrowding.”
Bin Karam indicated that post offices work from 8 AM until 9 PM, so clients can pick up their cards in the evening and avoid crowded mornings.
He stated that there is significant increase in the number of customers in limited places and offices during this time. He attributed that to the increasing number of ID cards involved in daily transactions in post offices. He added that Emirates Post delivers about 32,000 ID cards daily to their holders throughout the state; 30% of cards are delivered within 48 hours of contacting their holders as soon as they are received from Emirates ID; 60% of cards are delivered to their holders within four days and 77% within seven days. A total number of over 3.919 million cards were delivered since the launch of the delivery service last April until now, out of 4.516 cards received from the Emirates ID. There are currently 500,000 cards ready to be delivered and we have had about 84,000 cards for over 90 days without being picked up by their holders.
Bin Karam stressed that Emirates Post does not collect fees for delivering cards to clients. Consequently, the client is required to come in person to the post centers found throughout the state to pick up their cards or indicate their P.O. Box numbers to receive their cards and ensure their arrival.
