EIDA sets registration procedures for citizenship applicants of children of female nationals

Tuesday 20 March 2012

Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) set the registration procedures in the population register and ID card system for children of female nationals included in the decrees of application for UAE citizenship.

Eng. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, EIDA Director General, stressed in statements published by several local newspapers that in case the applicant for UAE citizenship has not previously registered in the population register and ID card system, then the registration steps include filling out the registration form in a certified typing office or through EIDA centers pursuant to the family book obtained by the person from the Ministry of Interior. The second step includes fingerprinting and taking of applicant’s picture so that data may be verified through the e-linking system with the Ministry of Interior to ensure that the applicant is a UAE citizen to issue a five-year ID card, then apply for an e-passport.

For persons registered in the population register system who already have their ID cards through the nationalities they were carrying before becoming UAE citizens, the steps for registering in the ID card require the applicant to go to one of the typing offices or EIDA centers along with the family book obtained from the Ministry of Interior so that the previous nationality data may be changed to the Emirati nationality, then issuing a five-year ID card with the same previous ID number without change.
