Tuesday 28 February 2012

H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, has affirmed that the adoption by the Cabinet under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may Allah save him, of the federal eGovernment’s plan 2014 is regarded as an incentive for the Emirates Identity Authority to exert more efforts to complete all the projects and initiatives stated in its strategy 2010-2013 in view of the Emirates Identity Authority’s key role in enhancing the eTransformation process seen in the UAE.

To ease the provision of online services is one of the most outstanding themes of the Emirates Identity Authority’s strategic plan, which is aimed in its entirety at advancing the UAE towards the digital society through developing a secure and integrated infrastructure for online services, completing the electronic linkage project with government organizations across the UAE, and activating the applications of smart ID cards and digital certificates to identify individual identities on electronic networks, thereby contributing to the conversion towards integrated eGovernment, Al Khouri said.

Al Khouri believed that the kind call launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may Allah save him, for all federal ministries and organizations to complete the provision of comprehensive online services to the public within two years was a valuable call that reflected the advanced strategic thinking of our prudent leadership and its shrewd vision in extrapolating the future in a conscious, confident and ambitious manner.

Al Khouri added that H.H. Sheikh Mohammed’s call reflected his keenness on enhancing the UAE competitiveness based on his realization of the important role played by eTransformation in all the economic, social, educational and health sectors as embodied in providing distinguished services to the society in general and individuals in particular, easing the lives of people and minimizing effort and time.

Al Khouri noted that “easing the lives of people and minimizing effort and time”, which was the most outstanding title among the group of valuable missions contained in H.H. Sheikh Mohammed’s call, represented the most prominent strategic objective adopted by the Emirates Identity Authority in its new plan 2010-2013 and placed on top of its priorities and interests.

Al Khouri underscored the Emirates Identity Authority’s keenness that this objective serve the interest of both UAE nationals and residents by easing their lives and enabling them to benefit from all the services provided by the UAE at the least time and effort possible, not to mention its ongoing endeavor to facilitate all the services provided to customers.

The Emirates Identity Authority is looking forward that the entities in charge of electronic projects in the UAE benefit from the infrastructure projects that it is implementing including the digital ID project, which provides the service of identifying identities on electronic networks and possibly other means of communications like mobile phones, in addition to the service of confirming the ID, ID credibility elements, digital signature and time stamp of transactions, Al Khouri said, adding that this would play a pivotal role in supporting the eGovernment projects in the UAE.

Al Khouri affirmed that the eGovernment plan is richand has many noble objectives and a high ceiling of ambitions that read the reality consciously and wisely, address the future with confidence and hope and seeks to build a knowledge-based and digital economy in the UAE. The plan is aimed at improving the quality of life in all fields and providing quality services to the highest standards and global models through benefiting from the advanced technological applications and using the human mind as invaluable capital and wealth, he added, noting that the goal as H.H. Sheikh Mohammed saidis for all the channels to lead to a distinguished government service.
