In a good initiative, Al Rams Registration Center has celebrated the night of Shaban 15 (Haqqel Leilah) by organizing humanitarian and social activities inside the center.
As part of the celebration, the Center’s management distributed token gifts to applicants and customers, particularly children, with the aim of bringing joy to their tender hearts.
Haqqel Leilah is an occasion which is widely celebrated by many UAE nationals to express their happiness about the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan and prepare themselves for receiving it. It is also an occasion for the people at a certain area to come closer and deepen their ties through love, fraternity and truthful relations.
Preparations for this day start in the UAE two or three days before by sewing “Al Kharayet”, cloth bags made by small children and youngsters and put on their shoulders before masses of them move from one house to another, as if telling people that their duty is to make them happy. After hanging these bags around their necks, children visit all the houses at the Freej while singing special dedicated songs.
According to the book “Ramadan and Eid..Habits and Traditions”, children usually collect a mixture of sweets and nuts of different shapes and colors during their tours.
Shops prepare for the occasion one week before and in front of each shop you will find boxes divided into several sections containing sweets of beautiful shapes and colors to receive the happy event. Women, on the other hand, distribute dates, rice and flour on the poor and needy people as charity on behalf of their deceased relatives.
It is noteworthy that the night of the middle of Shaban is a popular occasion celebrated by young and old people in most GCC countries and is known as “Haqqel Leilah”.
