The Emirates Identity Authority has reiterated its intention to reduce the period of ID card issuance procedures from nearly 5 days (currently) to less than 48 hours in the short coming period as part of its comprehensive plan aimed at delivering ID cards to their owners as soon as possible.

The Emirates Identity Authority pointed out that it doubled its efforts to develop, improve and speed up the mechanism of work from the moment the customer completes his/her registration procedures through to the stage of verifying his/her data and finally the stage of printing his/her ID card so that all these procedures would not exceed a maximum of 48 hours in case of a proper transaction. This mechanism will consequently integrate with the comprehensive improvements to be witnessed by the mechanism of filling out the e-form at the typing offices or through the Emirates Identity Authority’s website in the upcoming period, which would be culminated with the delivery of the ID card to the customer, added the Emirates Identity Authority.

The Emirates Identity Authority clarified that the issuance of an ID card passes through 3 stages: the stage of taking the customer’s fingerprints and photo at the Emirates Identity Authority-affiliated registration centers across the UAE, followed by the stage of verifying his/her data and then typing his/her ID card for delivery to courier companies.

This was announced during a meeting held by the Population Register Department under the chairmanship of H.E. Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of Population Register. The meeting, held at the Emirates Identity Authority’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi yesterday, was attended by Reem Al Radhi, Director of Verification Offices.

The Registration Department called on its employees to exert all efforts possible to achieve the sought-after objectives in the upcoming period until the desired improvement of registration, verification and typing (48-hour mechanism) is completed.

The Population Register Department discussed a number of solutions and suggestions to surmount the challenges facing the work of verification offices. It also discussed the necessity for the department’s employees to abide by the “individual performance contract” to be applied with the aim of measuring the value of contribution of each employee.

The meeting concluded by honoring a number of the department’s distinguished supervisors and employees.
