TRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dubai Smart Government to develop a unified digital identity in UAE and enhance cooperation between the federal and local government entities to be in line with UAE’s strategy to launch and implement unified projects at the country level, which contribute to the achievement of the objectives of UAE Centenary 2071, UAE 2021 Vesion, and sustainable development.

The project aims at developing, integrating and servicing the Federal Government’s SmartPass and the “Dubai ID” service into a single system that allows users to easily and seamlessly access federal and local government services by logging in once, from anywhere, and conduct transactions digitally. “Digital Identity” will also contribute to achievement of TRA’s business facilitation initiative as part of the joint national initiatives, and supports Dubai Smart Government “Paperless Governmnt” strategy and the “Blockchain” digital transaction strategy.

The joint project between TRA and Dubai Smart Government is the beginning of a new generation of digital identity, where visitors, residents and investors, inside and outside the country, will be able to get benefit from the digital identity that will operate through smart phones, allowing all users of this identity to complete their transactions in terms of signatures and the adoption of contracts electronically, as well as the possibility of granting approval to exchange their data to service providers. This ID will be provided according to high standards of privacy and security for users.

The “SmartPass service” allows users to access government services in the state using a unified account, as the user only needs one-time authentication to access many e-government services online.

The service is available to nationals and residents (Emirates ID card holders) and visitors, and is a part of UAE’s smart government initiatives, and within the national plan to provide smart personal government services to nationals, residents and visitors.

Dubai Smart Government Establishment, part of “Dubai Smart Government”, has launched “Dubai ID” service in order to provide the infrastructure and common services of government entities to help them provide success factors for smooth access to the public around the clock.

The registration in “Dubai ID” service allows to automatically access more than 600 services povided by 16 government entities in Dubai and use them with a single username and password that eliminates the need to register

with each government entity and eliminates the need for multiple personal identification accounts.
