The Emirates Identity Authority has announced residence issuance procedures will be linked with registration in ID card all over Sharjah, effective from December 1. Registration in ID card will thereby be a condition for the issuance or renewal of residence in Sharjah by early next month.

The Emirates Identity Authority also announced the opening of all its 9 service points attached to Sharjah preventive medicine centers in Al Ghubaiba, Al Nasseriya, Kalbaa, Sharjah Industrial Area, Khor Fakkan, Al Dhaid, Dibba Al Hisn, Al Hamriya Free Zone and Sharjah International Airport Free Zone.

Activating the linkage of residence and ID card procedures in Sharjah in 2 weeks comes after the ID card and residence linkage procedures have been completed in Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, the Emirates ID said, noting that linkage in Dubai would be activated gradually in the upcoming stage.

The Emirates Identity Authority clarified that under the linked procedures of ID card and residence in Sharjah, customers would have – from the beginning of next month – to fill out registration e-forms at an authorized typing center in the emirate before visiting a preventive medicine center for medical examination, provided that they should visit an ID card service point attached to a preventive medicine centre to complete registration procedures (fingerprinting and photographing).

The Emirates ID pointed out that Emaratech, the IT and electronic solutions company in charge of managing e-forms and responsible for typing centers, had already trained most Sharjah-based typing centers in how to deal effectively with the new procedures.

A customer should present his/her original passport when filling out the e-form at the typing center without the need to be present in person, the Emirates Identity Authority said, adding that he/she should present his/her original passport as well as the e-form when visiting the service point attached to the preventive medicine center for completing the ID card registration procedures.

A holder of an expired ID card should fill out a renewal form and present his//her old ID card at the typing center when renewing his/her residence, the Emirates Identity Authority said, noting that an ID card is delivered to its owner ONLY after his/her own residence has been issued by the competent authorities.

The Emirates ID clarified that its service points attached to the preventive medicine centers in Sharjah have a total registration capacity of around 2,800 registrants per day and are all allocated for men and women.

The ID card service points attached to preventive medicine centers in Sharjah, which are run by Eimas, feature 42 registration lines including 11 at Sharjah Industrial Area Center, 10 at Al Ghubaiba Center, 8 at Al Nasseriya Center, 3 in Al Dhaid Center, 2 each in Kalbaa, Khor Fakkan, Dibba Al Hisn, Al Hamriya Free Zone and Sharjah International Airport Free Zone centers.

The importance of the project of linking ID card registration procedures with residence issuance or renewal procedures is embodied in the results slated to be achieved after the project has been completed across the UAE in early 2012. These results include development of the population register system by raising the daily registration capacity to around 22,000 registrants in the service points attached to the preventive medicine centers and all Emirates ID-affiliated registration centers and offices, which means around 500,000 registrants per month.

The Emirates Identity Authority noted that the service of “Expat without Residence” is available at the typing centers of each emirate in which the linkage of ID card and residence procedures is activated as part of the project of the linkage with preventive medicine.

The Emirates Identity Authority clarified that the service of “Expat without Residence” does not require the date of issuance or expiry of residence to be stated when filling out the ID card registration form. The validity of the residence is stated on the ID card form based on the residence duration for each profession in the UAE and consequently the service of “Expat without Residence” allows the ID card registration form of any individual with expired residence, entry visa or a nearly expired residence to be oriented easily and smoothly, the Emirates Identity Authority added.

Meanwhile, the Emirates Identity Authority called on customers to contact it on 600530003 in case of any problem with the typing centers.
