Emiratisation in the Emirates Identity Authority recorded a remarkable qualitative rise in early 2011 when nationals accounted for 99 per cent of the Emirates ID’s staff amounting to 600 employees in the different Emirates Identity Authority’s departments, sections and centers.

In addition, around 350 nationals are working for the Emirates Identity Authority through resourcing companies and temporary contracts. The Emirates Identity Authority will add a number of these to its national staff according to a certain timeline and a specific plan and will also introduce a number of vacancies for more of these employees.

H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, reaffirmed in a press release the Emirates Identity Authority’s commitment to the vision of the Emirates Emiratisation Council, which treats Emiratisation as a priority on the federal government’s list of priorities.

He explained that the prudent directives and close follow-up of HH Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Deputy Chairman of Emirates Identity Authority and Chairman of Emirates Emiratisation Council, contributed to establishing an integrated emiratisation system in line with the prudent leadership’s directives and as per clear strategies dealing with the Emiratisation issue with wisdom and responsiveness.

The Emirates Identity Authority succeeded in emiratising all top positions and all the employees working in registration centers and internal verification offices including directors, supervisors and employees are UAE nationals, Al Khouri said, noting that the grades and advantages at the Emirates Identity Authority were restricted to UAE nationals only.

Al Khouri noted the achievement accomplished by the Emirates Identity Authority over the past 16 months as embodied in the appointment of around 300 nationals, which comes as part of its integrated plan aimed at raising emiratisation rates in line with the top trends indicated in the Emirates Identity Authority’s new strategy 2010-2013.

He highlighted the Emirates Identity Authority’s ongoing efforts and continuous co-ordination with the different UAE entities concerned with Emiratisation including the Emirates Nationals Development Program “Tawteen”, Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council, Tanmia and a number of other educational authorities and organizations in the UAE.

Al Khouri reiterated the Emirates Identity Authority’s keenness on carrying on the self-development process of its employees, improving their skills, crystallizing their academic expertise and upgrading their practical tools through the comprehensive training plan, which was prepared by the Emirates Identity Authority’s HR Department and is currently being implemented according to the set timeline.

He explained that the Emirates Identity Authority had recently recruited a very limited number of qualified UAE residents of vast experience to fill a number of specialized technical and technological posts against temporary contracts for a period of no more than 2 years, during which 2 nationals would be trained in each post so that these posts would be filled as soon as possible.

Al Khouri further explained that the Emirates Identity Authority’s keenness and earnest endeavor towards maintaining an attractive work environment contributed to reducing the job rotation rate and also attracting many excellent national qualified employees, whether those appointed by the Emirates Identity Authority in 2010 or those who expressed their genuine interest in joining the Emirates Identity Authority and submitted employment applications in the hope of getting an appropriate job opportunity in the Emirates Identity Authority’s departments, sections and centers.

The Emirates Identity Authority is facing a challenge in attracting a sufficient number of nationals to fill the specialized consultancy positions as well as a number of technical positions in the communications and information systems sector, he said, noting that the Emirates Identity Authority is currently co-ordinating with some educational entities in the UAE to launch special programs for training nationals in these specialized fields.

Al Khouri stressed the Emirates Identity Authority’s keenness and determination to assume its role and fulfill its mission of supporting the government’s efforts to boost the national workforce in an effective and efficient manner and allowing it all the opportunities to fill positions in the Emirates Identity Authority’s departments, sections and centers.
