The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai commemorated the Emirati Martyr’s Day by lowering the country’s flag at eleven thirty in the morning, in the presence of His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri the Director General, directors of departments and employees. The attendees stood a minute of silence to pay homage to the righteous martyrs of the homeland in honor and gratitude for the sacrifices, in all military, civil and humanitarian fields, and then the flag of the country was raised high and the UAE national anthem was played at the headquarters of the General Directorate in Al Jafiliya.
This comes in implementation of the decision of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs to mark November 30 of each year as Martyr’s Day. Today the United Arab Emirates, with all its institutions, and the participation of members of society, commemorates the Martyr’s Day with all feelings of pride and glory in its armed forces, soldiers and martyrs, to confirm that the sacrifices of the martyrs will remain an indelible page in the history of the country and it will reflect a majestic scene of national cohesion.
His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al-Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, said, “Martyr’s Day is an occasion to express loyalty and appreciation to our martyrs who gave their most precious possessions for the sake of their homeland, and it is also an occasion to perpetuate their memory, so that their heroism and sacrifices remain a model for future generations, a beacon that lights up the path for us and our children, and an incentive to push us to make more efforts and work harder to improve our present and build our future, and to embody the human heritage that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, instilled and established as principles and values that are still the basic and solid foundation upon which his children walk.
His Excellency added that the wise leadership and the Emirati people will not forget the sons who sacrificed their lives in order to ward off the dangers that threaten their security and the security of their children and tamper with their achievements and gains; and who rushed to save their brothers in response to the call of humanity, and in dedication to the era of the founding father, who said that man is a source of pride, glory, dignity and construction for his country, stressing that the martyrs of the homeland will remain in the memory of the Emirati people, they are the source of their pride and glory.
