The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security organized two events to educate employees on security and safety procedures in the event of evacuation and firefighting, with the aim of preserving human resources and public property, building the capacities for facing emergency situations, ensuring business continuity, and applying the best health, safety and security standards for employees and customers.
In this regard, an evacuation drill was carried out at Al Nahda Customer Happiness Center in Dubai, in cooperation with Dubai Civil Defense Department. The evacuation drill covered training employees on how to prepare and act in emergency situations that pose a safety risk, and how to deal with the categories of people which need priority during the evacuation process, in addition to the mechanism of communication with the civil defense and the police.
The General Administration of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain also held a similar training workshop for the department’s staff on evacuation and firefighting, in cooperation with the Civil Defense Department in the Emirate, with the aim of educating staff on the procedures to be followed in dealing with emergency situations, disasters and crises.
During the workshop, the methods of extinguishing fires and how to use the extinguishing tools approved in this field were reviewed, in addition to identifying the firefighting capabilities available in the building, and the health and occupational safety and security procedures that must be followed in emergency cases of this type to maintain the safety of workers and customers. Plans and procedures of emergency evacuation were also reviewed.
The Authority affirmed its continuous keenness to implement best practices that ensure business continuity, preserve human resources and property, and raise awareness among employees of the procedures that must be implemented in cases of emergency and natural disasters, noting that the evacuation drill and the workshops held in this aspect stem from strategic goals and institutional values and the corporate risk management policy of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security.
