The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security is taking part in the activities of the current edition of the month of innovation “UAE Innovates 2023”, which started on the first of February at the state level with a wide participation of federal and local government institutions.
The Authority’s participation in the current edition of the UAE Innovation Month is a continuation of its active participation in all previous editions since the launch of this initiative in 2015, which confirms the Authority’s keenness to spread the culture of innovation in the work environment and raise community awareness in this field, as well as reflects its commitment to comply with government directives and initiatives and its belief in the principles of the UAE fiftieth and the UAE centennial 2071.
The Authority’s participation in the month of February includes various innovative activities, projects, initiatives and services that contribute to the consolidation of the culture of innovation in society, and reflect the Authority’s continuous ability to develop the work environment and service system to meet the current and future needs of customers.
His Excellency Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Authority, said: “The month of innovation embodies a celebration by the UAE and its visionary leadership of innovation and innovators, as the UAE has become a preferred destination for talented and skilled people and innovators. As we complied with the directives of the visionary leadership, we have succeeded, praise be to God, over the years, in establishing a culture of innovation in the work environment within the Authority, so that innovation and creativity have become an essential component of the work culture and its various themes, and with innovation we have been able to develop our operations and services to meet the current and future needs of our customers”.
His Excellency added that the UAE Innovation Month is a national event that celebrates innovation and innovators, and it embodies the country’s leadership in the field of innovation regionally and internationally, as the UAE has become a preferred destination for talented and skilled people and innovators.
His Excellency stressed that the Authority is committed to comply with the directives of the visionary leadership of the United Arab Emirates by adopting innovation as a strategic approach and direction and a culture in the work environment and providing services to customers. From this standpoint, the Authority is keen to develop operations and services with innovative mechanisms in line with these trends and contribute to their translation on the ground, pointing out that the Authority has succeeded over the years in establishing a culture of innovation in the work environment and developing and modernizing the services system in order to be a pioneer in this field, so much so that innovation and creativity have become an essential component of work culture and its various themes.
For his part, His Excellency Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Authority, mentioned that the month of innovation represents a great opportunity for the Authority to reach out to members of society and customers and to get acquainted with their opinions and suggestions to develop the system of services provided by the Authority. It is also an opportunity to introduce these services and promote them among members of society with initiatives and innovative activities that attract the public and achieve the objectives that the Authority seeks to achieve by participating in this important national event.
His Excellency explained that the specialized work teams in the Authority managed, during the past years, in cooperation with partners, to build a system of proactive and advanced smart services in the field of identity, citizenship, passports, residence visas, population census and digital authentication, and that such system is among the largest at the level of the federal government, as it includes more than 42 smart services, provided round the clock, seven days a week, from anywhere in the world, indicating that the Authority’s endeavours to develop services and the work environment continues to build a better future for society and customers.
The activities of the Authority during the current edition of the month of innovation target different segments of society and customers, and aim to spread awareness of the issues and themes of innovation in the field of identity, citizenship, passports, residency, foreign affairs, population census, databases, and safe and comfortable travel. These activities and initiatives are implemented by the relevant departments and sectors of the Authority at the state level, as one of the largest and widest participation of the Authority in the activities of the Innovation Month in terms of the size and quality of the activities, teams and participating departments.
The Authority’s participation in the Innovation Month this year includes reviewing the developed services system and the new generation of those services, especially the new Emirati passport and the developed visa system, and marketing this system in attractive and innovative ways such as the tourist bus, hackathon, smart corridor, virtual reality, and many more.
The activities of the Authority during the month of innovation also include brainstorming sessions in which employees, customers and youth participate, various innovation workshops in different emirates, youth circles and platforms affiliated with the authority in many emirates, in addition to hosting innovators from school and university students and the government innovation forum that discusses government sustainability.
The Authority’s activities also include virtual community meetings to raise awareness of the concept of innovation, its tools and mechanisms, and the Innovation Pioneers Exhibition, which celebrates the innovators and inventors from the Authority’s employees, community members, and partners from the government and private sectors, as well as the Authority’s Electronic Museum, the Innovation Cinema, the Young Talents Council, and many innovative events and initiatives that contribute to spreading the culture of innovation among customers and society.
During the current edition of the Emirates Innovation Month, the Authority was keen to establish a culture of scientific research in the field of innovation among its employees. This year, the month of innovation will witness the launch of the activities of the second round of the Scientific Research Award for Innovation for students of Emirates Academy for Identity and Citizenship.
