“Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security” concludes the activities of the Innovation Month 2023

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security concluded on February 28, 2023 its innovative activity which it executed nationwide throughout the month of February during this year’s edition of the Innovation Month initiative “UAE Innovates 2023” amid a large public turnout.
In a press release, the Authority stated that the total number of innovative initiatives and events it executed during the month amounted to 155 initiatives and activities, which varied between dialogue sessions, brainstorming sessions, multiple competitions, innovative presentations, a review of smart services, innovation hackathon, and many exhibitions through 11 exhibition platforms. The number of employees from the Authority who participated in the execution of the activities of the month of innovation for the current year, was about 130 employees from various levels and organizational units.
The geographical scope of the Authority’s participation in the activities of the Innovation Month for this year has expanded to include all the emirates and places where customers and community members gather, such as the Zayed Heritage Festival and the Global Village. Cooperation has also been established with many government and private institutions in executing the activities, emphasizing the importance of partnership, cooperation and coordination with all active institutions in society when carrying out tasks and responsibilities and fulfilling national obligations and entitlements.
Exceptional edition
His Excellency Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Authority, said: “The current edition of the month of innovation “UAE Innovates 2023”, is an exceptional edition for the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, given the number of activities that have been executed and the number of affiliates participating in them, and the wide geographical scope of activities and initiatives, in addition to the great public turnout for taking part in the events, getting acquainted with the smart services system, experiencing the innovations presented, the quality of the activities and initiatives that were executed, and the central innovative issues that were raised and discussed over a period of 28 days.
His Excellency added that the quality of the activities and the volume of participation reflects the Authority’s keenness to consolidate the culture of innovation and spread innovative and creative thinking among members of society, achieve effective communication with customers, and motivate them to participate in the design and development of the smart services system provided by the Authority by getting to know their opinions and suggestions, during the dialogue sessions and take the necessary steps to fulfil their aspirations and desires.
His Excellency Major General, Director General of the Authority mentioned that the Authority’s success in developing channels and methods of communication with customers of different nationalities, groups and ages contributed to simplifying the procedures for providing services and proposing innovative tools to be presented to customers in their places of presence and facilitating the process of accessing these services at any time and from anywhere, which made it easy for the Authority to achieve the goals and standards of the National Strategy for Government Services.
Regarding the effects and results of the Authority’s participation in the “UAE Innovates 2023” initiative, His Excellency Major General Suhail Al Khaili expressed the Authority’s happiness with the results achieved in this field, stressing that the Authority succeeded during the current session of the month of innovation in establishing a culture of innovation among different segments of society and was able to reach out to new categories of citizens, residents, school and university students, and females through its presence in festivals, heritage villages, schools, and national and women’s associations.
50 ideas
His Excellency added: “The outputs of the Customer Councils Hackathon, which was held by the Authority throughout the month, contributed to benefiting from the immediate execution of 19 innovative ideas out of the 50 ideas that were put forward during those councils. Work is currently underway to execute the rest of the ideas according to a time plan that takes into account the requirements necessary for execution in terms of procedures, cost, timing and work teams. These ideas will have positive repercussions and effects on the quality and mechanism of providing smart services, as well as procedures, communication channels, time of arrival and access to services, in a way that enhances the happiness of customers, improves the quality of life of society and raises the level of competitiveness of the UAE in global indicators in terms of identity, residence, living and innovation.”
Among the most prominent ideas presented and executed during the innovation sessions and events, is the launch of the electronic identity form in a new design to meet the needs of customers. A new response code was created to allow the customer to track the status of his application and know the course of the transaction automatically, and a response code was added to the customer voice portal, which allows the customer to enter directly to the portal and submit inquiries, evaluation and observations. A response code has also been created that facilitates access to the system of fingerprinting appointments for customers, and changing dates to suit them, in addition to working to update the Authority’s smart application by adding warning notices to customers to inform them of official documents that are about to expire to be renewed in order to avoid the resulting delay fines.

Happiness Bus
In the dialogue sessions with customers and community members, the Authority reviewed the “Happiness Bus” project, which is equipped with all equipment and tools for the delivery of services or that aims to visit senior citizens in their homes to complete their transactions without the need for them to visit customer happiness centers.
In its statement, the Authority revealed the results of the dialogue sessions held within the framework of the month of innovation this year, noting that these sessions witnessed positive participation by partners, customers and members of society, and these participations resulted in a package of development ideas and projects, totalling 65 ideas and 4 development projects, which includes many different work themes and the system of smart services provided by the Authority, and the innovation team and strategy and future management, in cooperation with the competent departments, will execute these ideas and embody them on the ground during the new strategic session of the Authority.
Outstanding participation
In this context, His Excellency Major General Director General of the Authority praised the performance of the innovation team and the concerned departments in the Authority at the state level during the current edition of the month of innovation, and also praised the level of the activities that were executed, saying: “The innovation team and the supporting departments succeeded in achieving a distinguished, pioneering and honorable participation that makes us proud at the Authority, everyone was up to the responsibility, and all the activities were driven by the instructions of the visionary leadership of the UAE and the principles, values and themes of the national strategy for innovation.
His Excellency pointed out that the Authority attaches great care and importance to research and development as an important tool to reach innovation in the performance of operations, the provision of services, the satisfaction of customers, and the achievement of national targets in this field, as the Authority is executing many development plans in support of research and development, in addition to the establishment of the innovation center in the Authority and expansion in supporting innovation incubators and providing a package of legislation and infrastructure within the fields of innovation in order to achieve institutional goals, and to give priority to technical investment that stimulates innovation in order to raise the level of performance and productivity and contribute to the development of the Authority’s activities and operations to achieve flexibility, proactivity and institutional agility.
