The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security took part in a specialized symposium in the theme of “Passports and Immigration” held at the Gulf Cooperation Council pavilion, organized by the Assistant General Secretariat for Security Affairs, as part of the Expo 2020 Dubai activities.
The symposium discussed the various experiences and lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic period and their implications for the passport systems in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The participation included a review of the authority’s efforts within a working paper on dealing with the consequences of the global epidemic through the launching of package of policies and procedures that coincided with the implementation of initiatives related to the pandemic such as the application of the remote work system and the adoption of a digital transformation strategy using smart and electronic channels at Customer Happiness centers. It also involved reviewing services supporting health and safety during the pandemic, which consisted in providing proactive services and self-fingerprinting, as well as implementing the directives which support community stability, such as extending visas, residencies, identity cards, exemption from fines, and other facilities.
The Authority’s participation came as part of the efforts of strengthening the process of joint Gulf security cooperation, contributing to the exchange of experiences and expertise, and identifying ways to address various regional and international challenges.
