The Emirates Identity Authority held a co-ordination meeting with the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) in Dubai the day before yesterday with the aim of getting familiarized with the completion rate of the ID system activation initiatives as agreed on in the memorandum of understanding signed by both parties last January.

The meeting discussed the mechanisms of activating the initiative related to fitting smart card readers which is aimed at electronically activating the ID system in FEWA’s internal systems to enable these systems to access the personal data of the card holder in a direct, fast and accurate manner and ensure the flow of these data to the internal systems in a few seconds.

The smart card readers will save customers long minutes of waiting and FEWA a large part of the time consumed by the process of manual inputting of data. These readers also play a role in ensuring that the data are inputted correctly and are identical with the individual’s data recorded in the population register, thereby helping establish precise and up-to-date records.

The meeting also talked about the efforts exerted by the FEWA-affiliated service offices for communicating with customers to be familiarized with the numbers of their ID cards and update their records at the Emirates Identity Authority. The Emirates Identity Authority clarified that the completion rate of this initiative stood at 30 per cent at the Emirates Identity Authority and 70 per cent in a number of its other offices.

Meanwhile, the meeting discussed an initiative for comparing and matching data in addition to the obstacles it is facing and how to deal with them. The initiative is aimed at comparing the customers’ data registered in the FEWA’s records with those registered in the population register in a bid to ensure the establishment of correct and precise records at FEWA, thereby contributing to developing the Emirates Identity Authority’s efficiency and supporting its development plans.

It is noteworthy that FEWA has completed the major themes of the ID system as embodied in seeking evidence of identity through the UD card, entering the ID card number in the individuals’ transactions, files and records and using it for organizing these transactions, files and records.

The Emirates Identity Authority was represented in this meeting by H.E. Mohamed Masoud Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of Population Register, and Mr. Shukri Al Buraiki, Creativity and Development Director.

FEWA was represented by H.E. Mohamed Mohamed Saleh, Director General, Mrs. Najla’a Ramadan, Acting Executive Director of Customer Service Department, and Mr. Khalid Abdullah Ali, Customer Services Center Supervisor.
