The Emarat Technology Solutions (Emaratech) has affirmed that the ID card registration form system at the typing offices is working to the fullest extent since the residency procedures were linked with registration in ID card in Abu Dhabi last Sunday.

Thani Abdullah Alzaffin, Director General & Board Member of Emaratech, said: “The system of filling out ID card registration forms, which is managed by Emaratech through typing offices, receives all types of ID card registration transactions in Abu Dhabi including those of individuals with expired residence visas.”

He added that under the agreement signed with the Emirates Identity Authority, Emaratech would provide an “expatriate without residence visa” service to the typing offices in each emirate through which the linkage of ID card registration and residence visa procedures would be activated as part of the linkage with the preventive medicine center project.

Alzaffin clarified that the “expatriate without residence visa” service does not require the dates of issuance or expiry of the residence visa to be given when filling out the ID card registration form. The validity of the residence visa would be determined based on the residence period stated for each profession in the UAE and consequently the service would allow an individual with expired residence, with entry visa or with residence that is about to expire to print the ID card registration form easily and smoothly, he said.

Emaratech activated this service when the linkage of residence issuance procedures with ID card procedures started gradually to take effect in Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah nearly a year ago, he said, adding that this service did not face any problem and is still working properly after these procedures were linked in Abu Dhabi two days ago.

Alzaffin denied the news that the ID card registration system rejected registration of individuals with expired residence visas, adding that some typing offices that had not attended the new system training workshops were likely to be behind the news that caused customers to be confused.

Alzaffin pointed out that Emaratech had trained 227 typing offices in how to deal with the linkage of ID card and residence visa procedures in Abu Dhabi, adding that it forwarded warnings to the typing offices that did not attend the workshops threatening them that their authorization would be withdrawn in case of repeated offence.

Alzaffin unveiled that some 15,500 ID card registration forms were filled out through the typing offices across the UAE last Sunday (first day of activated linkage of ID card and residence visa procedures in Abu Dhabi), recording a rise of 35 per cent compared to last Thursday, on which some 11,700 forms were filled out. He believed that the said rise proves that the system was running at a very normal pace.

Alzaffin called on customers who face any problem at the typing offices to call the Emirates Identity Authority via the contact center number 600530003, noting that the launch of a new system might face some individual cases that could not be treated as a general rule.
