The Higher Management Committee at the Emirates Identity Authority has listened to the proposal made by the Population Register Department regarding the procedures for registration of the disabled for ID cards.

During its regular meeting held yesterday (Wednesday) in the Emirates Identity Authority headquarters, the Committee instructed all the departments concerned to provide all forms of support to this significant category of the society and facilitate its registration for ID cards.

The Committee decided to communicate directly with all the categories of the disabled and provide them with the registration service through the mobile registration vehicles, which would move to their domiciles for completion of their registration in the ID card and population register, fingerprinting and photographing.

The Committee was briefed on a number of remarks received from customers with respect to a number of members of one family receiving SMS with different registration appointments which would cause confusion to them and encourage them not to honor their distant appointments.

The reason behind this problem lies in the fact that the typing offices did not bother to stress the necessity for customers to fill out the section devoted to the “family member service”, which allows all members of a family to receive SMS signifying one appointment at one registration center for completion of their registration for ID cards, the Committee said.

The Committee instructed that members of the same family who have distant appointments be communicated as soon as possible and advised of the possibility for the entire family to use any of the appointments received by the family members to visit the concerned registration center for completion of the their registration for ID cards.

The Committee also approved the recommendation made by the Population Register Department to contract a new courier company as part of the Emirates Identity Authority’s plans to face the challenge of the delay in delivering ID cards to their respective owners.

The Committee expressed its hope that the new company, side by side with the other courier companies dealing with the Emirates Identity Authority, would play its role in delivering ID cards to their owners as per the timelines to be set in co-ordination with the Emirates Identity Authority.

Meanwhile, the Committee decided to cancel the e-forms of all the individuals who did not honor the second and final appointment set by the Emirates Identity Authority for them to complete their registration for ID cards.

The Committee also discussed a number of agenda items for which the appropriate decisions and recommendations were made.
