This came during the first meeting held by the General Directorate of Foreigners and Ports under the umbrella of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship following the completion of the implementation of Federal Decree No. (3) of 2017 issued by His Highness the President of the State, which amended the Federal Decree-Law No. 2 of 2004 of establishing the Emirates Identity Authority, to become the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, in order to be concerned with the matters of identity, nationality, passports, entry, and residence of foreigners in the State and to be responsible for the formulation of related policy and ensure its implementation.

The requirements for the work were reviewed in the next phase, along with the formulation of general guidelines in the sector of Foreigners and Ports during the meeting, which was chaired by Brigadier General Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, Director General of Foreign Affairs and Ports at ICA, and attended by the State’s executive directors of Residency and Foreign Affairs.

The meeting discussed also the progress of the work, the challenges, and the appropriate solutions to overcome all obstacles that may hinder the initiatives that will be launched in this field and to take appropriate decisions in such regards.
