The Finnish Minister of Housing and Communications Her Excellency Krista Kiuru has commended the visionary leadership of the UAE as well as its commitment to provide a safe and secure environment for residents and competent infrastructure for digital identifications systems.
The Finnish minister’s comments came during her meeting with His Excellency Dr Engineer Ali Al Khouri, Director General of Emirates ID, yesterday at the parliament house in Helsinki, capital of Finland. Al Khouri was in Helsinki heading the Emirates ID delegation that attended the international summit on information and network security for the emerging markets.
The Finnish Minister expressed her appreciation for the development achieved by the UAE in various fields, particularly technological and scientific fields, and the UAE’s international reputation for developing a digital economy through various projects.
During the meeting the minister explained Finland’s experience in the information technology sector and the government’s plans to provide network infrastructure for all residents of Finland by the year 2015, thus enabling everyone to make better use of government services and electronic commerce.
Al Khouri briefed the Finnish Minister on Emirates ID strategy for 2010-2013 and the projects and initiatives related to the strategy, particularly electronic services and e-commerce offered by means of advanced techniques, digital certificates and digital encryption.
The Emirates ID Director General expressed hope that in future, there would be further co-operation and co-ordination with Emirates ID and Finnish agencies and institutions by way of mutual visits and special workshops in the UAE led by Finnish experts. His Excellency also presented a paper on “Emerging Markets in Digital world.”
