“FAIC” and “GPSSA” sign an agreement for e-connectivity and data exchange

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship has signed an agreement for e-connectivity, data and information exchange that serves the nature of their work, make them benefit from the Emirates ID card and adopt it as a main source in supporting the electronic and smart services provided by both authorities.

The agreement, signed by FAIC’s Director General, Dr. Saeed Abdullah bin Mutlaq Al Ghafli, GPSSA’s Acting Director-General, Mr. Mohammed Saif Al Hamli, includes the exchange of data of civil affairs events of persons registered in the Population Register System, who have Emirates ID and all amendments from its main sources of to ensure the highest levels of accuracy in such data and provide them in a timely manner to be handled in a manner that serves the public interest and the interest of the two authorities.

The civil affairs events are the elements of the individual’s civil status, which relate to his or her life updates, including the date and place of birth, marriage, divorce, nationality, residence, death, religion, academic certificate and employment status.

The agreement, which was signed on the margin of the two authorities’ participation in “GITEX Technology Week 2017” that held currently in Dubai, provided the coordination between the two authorities in implementation of the joint projects in order to ensure proper implementation and quickness of delivery and ensure the accuracy, safety and confidentiality of data transfer during the exchange process with the necessity to save it accurately so as to contribute to the realization of common interests in the framework of the supreme interest of the State as well as the exchange of information and studies related to their respective responsibilities in field of work of each authority.

According to the agreement, FAIC provides to “GPSSA” the necessary infrastructure for the success of electronic connectivity that support the acquisition and exchange of data with the database of the Population Register Safely. In addition to providing the necessary technical support regarding the use of court-related connectivity services and raising awareness of community members on the importance of the use of the Emirates ID and the means of securing it.

The agreement stipulates that GPSSA shall exclusively rely exclusively on the Emirates ID and ID number as a prerequisite for registering civil affairs events, and shall provide the necessary guides and instructions for its visitors to present the Emirates ID as a basic document of the registration process and to take all necessary measures in terms of establishing laws and regulations that obligate its employees not to accept any transaction without the Emirates ID card and using the e-reader of the Emirates ID card in the data entry process to avoid entering a wrong ID number.

Under the agreement, the GPSSA will send the civil affairs events to the e-connectivity system as soon as they are registered, establish a monitoring and following-up system to ensure the operation of the system around the clock or according to the times of service, follow-up the status of the registration of events and the status of sending it to GPSSA, so that the process of sending the event related to any transaction to the electronic connectivity system is one of the basic steps to complete the transaction procedures so that the transaction is not completed without it, as well as provide solutions to ensure the transmission of information to the e-connectivity system and its arrival and receipt by GPSSA optimally.

HE Dr. Saeed Abdullah bin Mutlaq Al Ghafli, Director General of FAIC, said that the signing of this agreement comes within the framework of the FAIC’s efforts to achieve the comprehensive electronic connectivity between FAIC and the various state authorities, thus enabling it to upgrade the accuracy and recency of the Population Register system, and to enhance cooperation and integration with such authorities to enable them to get benefit from the features of the “Smart” Emirates ID, from the initiatives and projects implemented by FAIC to make Emirates ID card the first and most important service card in the state..

He stressed FAIC’s keenness to support the endeavors of the authorities to develop their services and cooperation with them to create new ways to serve nationals and residents, which achieve their satisfaction and be in line with the State’s leadership approach, which focuses on making people happy by providing the necessary information to support decision-making, strategic and vital planning in various sectors and provide accurate population data that contribute to the development of society and serve the supreme interest of the state..

Dr. Al-Ghafli added that FAIC has made a significant steps in implementing the electronic connectivity between its database and the databases of the various concerned authorities in this vital project, which enables it to provide the mechanisms that benefit the authorities with which the connectivity is made by providing verification means of data of nationals and residents via its own applications, in a secure and reliable manner, as well as supporting government transformation, improving the quality of services provided to customers, helping other authorities to develop their services and launching electronic services based on the features provided by the Emirates ID card.

Mohammed Saif Al Hamli said that the agreement represents one of the aspects of cooperation that stems from the strategic vision of the government towards strengthening and expanding areas of joint cooperation between all its ministries, authorities and institutions in the interest of the state and its citizens.

He added that the agreement serves FAIC’s role in providing the opportunity for mutual exchange of the data of the registered customers in FAIC and to know all updates in their status, the matter which supports the Electronic procedures and services of FAIC, which depend in its entirety on the continuous updating of the data of the insured, retirees and eligible persons.
