Emirates Identity Authority signs MoU with HBMeU

Abu Dhabi: Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU), a leader in the field of e-Learning and quality management in the Arab World, to benefit from e-learning services provided by the university in the fields of professional development, leadership, management and others.

The MoU was signed as both parties are seeking to build a solid strategic partnership in support of the UAE Government Strategic Plan and to promote collaboration between government bodies and educational and academic institutions to serve the UAE society.

Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Director General of EIDA, said: “The partnership with HBMeU stems from EIDA’s desire to promote cooperation with one of the most prominent educational institutions that specialize in creating an ideal environment for e-learning, lifelong learning and providing learners with experience at a high level, as well as the dissemination of knowledge, culture of excellence and quality management in our national institutions.”

“The new partnership is a continuation of the efforts of EIDA to promote cooperation with various government and non-governmental agencies, in line with its new 2010-2013 plan, towards building a services corporation that is goal-oriented and is able to deliver enhanced services.  It also aims to maintain its outstanding performance in providing internal services by nurturing human competencies according to the highest international standards, in line with the vision of the Federal Government to promote human development,” added Al Khouri.

Al Khouri also stated that the partnership with HBMeU will support EIDA’s goals to create an advanced infrastructure for electronic identity management and technology, and to keep pace with the rapid shift towards a knowledge-based society by providing high-quality programs for the development of human resources in various leadership, administrative and technical fields, and support e-government projects.

“The Authority plays a vital role in supporting the electronic transformation of the country through initiatives that develop the electronic identity management (eID) infrastructure.EIDA’s thrust is in line with the vision of the University, which is the first academic institution specializing in the provision of educational services in the field of Total Quality Management through e-learning in the Arab World and the Middle East,” said Dr. Al Awar, who also expressed his pleasure in signing the MoU. “The University is committed to providing the Authority with top consulting services, training and development programs in leadership, project management and other administrative, practical and research fields, as well as supporting the skills development of managers and staff.

“This partnership will help spread the culture of quality and raise the competency of each individual through modern education, while keeping pace with the rapid developments and advances in various fields of knowledge and scientific research in the UAE,” added Al Awar.

Under the agreement, which was recently signed at EIDA’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, HBMeU will provide EIDA access to specialized publications in the field of total quality, scientific research services and scientific research, and will work to enrich the authority’s “Excellence Library” with such publications.

The authority will promote periodic events, programs and training courses available at the university among its staff and affiliates, in order to spread awareness about the importance of e-learning.

In return, the university will offer programs and training courses to be used by EIDA’s staff in accordance with international standards and to meet their needs, as well as to cultivate the e-learning culture among managers and staff of EIDA through practical experiences.
