In its recent issue for May 2011, the Journal of Public Administration Research published a new research by the Emirates Identity Authority titled “Developing corporate performance by understanding humanitarian motive”.

The research, prepared by H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, reviews a number of significant administrative concepts that contribute to understanding and improving the general performance of individuals and corporate teams.

The research also reflects experiences and practices derived from studies that have been conducted with individuals and working teams in several projects, specifically in the public sector. It throws the light on theories, general frameworks and vehicles to understand human motives that can play a major role in improving and regulating the performance of individuals.

According to the researcher, understanding and appreciating the behaviors that are usually motivated by self-conceptions is one of the significant basics for the success of corporate management and leadership. Although it might be very simple, human nature is extremely sophisticated at the same time in terms of reactions to the different conditions related to individuals’  personalities and environment and different other factors, he says.

The researcher notes that despite the existence of detailed procedures, systems and job descriptions, many organizations are nowadays suffering from performance management challenges, particularly that the directors’ roles lie in developing vision and common objectives and seeking the sense of responsibility in all the individuals of the organization, adding that the success of directors basically depends on the efficient and good performance of their departments and the working teams in their organizations.

To ensure balanced building of working teams of high performance, the research suggests that the higher management use the weaker organizational aspect of corporate mind, noting that it is essential when forming working teams to take into consideration the selected members of the have different and complementary skills (right and left brain thinking) to develop creative ideas.

The research explains that the right and left parts of the corporate brain mean that the right part concentrates on analysis, logic and precision while the left part focuses on the creative side. The existence of teams in this structure contributes to the possibility and ability of these teams to confront challenges and solve problems through balanced thinking, the research shows.

The scientific paper also reviews a number of bases and pivotal components of self motives and how to enhance behaviors and personal relations by developing contact and communication skills and empowerment, which is based on encouraging human resources to assume personal responsibility by the delegation of authority.

The research stresses the importance of formulating strategies for learning contracts, which involve common identification of objectives and evaluation methods as well as the possibility of modifying their levels and contents in line with work requirements and the development of the individual’s academic level, these being among the bases that the contemporary orientations rest on for preparing programs for developing human resources and leadership skills and discovering their potential skills.

The research states that these plans contribute in their entirety to understanding the basics of building integrated working teams that are aware of the modern techniques, systems, procedures and practices in management sciences, concentrate on fulfilling the organization’s mission and vision and are interested in results and not in outputs, which start in their entirety from a major point, i.e. the individuals.

It is noteworthy that the Chinese Journal of public Administration Research is a US-based dedicated, coherent, professional, academic and scientific monthly journal concerned with publishing dedicated researches and studies in the economic fields, modern management theories and practices, strategic management, human resources management and corporate finance management from all over the world.
