The Emirates Identity Authority has announced the opening of two registration centers annexed to the two Preventive Medicine Centers in Sharjah Industrial Area and Khor Fakkan as part of a project to activate the linkage of ID card registration procedures with residence.

The two new centers in Sharjah Industrial Area and Khor Fakkan bring to 6 the number of registration centers annexed to preventive medicine centers, the Emirates Identity Authority said, noting that it intends to open 3 additional centers annexed to the preventive medicine in Al Nasseriya, Kalbaa  and Al Ghubaiba by the end of this month.

The Emirates Identity Authority pointed out that the total capacity of registration through all its centers annexed to Sharjah-based preventive medicine centers would reach 2,800 registrants per day after opening all its centers annexed to the preventive medicine centers in the emirate which would reach 9 by the end of this month.

The Emirates Identity Authority clarified that all its centers annexed to Sharjah-based preventive medicine centers are for men and women, noting that its new center in Sharjah Industrial Area includes 11 registration lines while its new center in Khor Fakkan includes 2 registration lines.

The three centers set to be opened by the Emirates Identity Authority in October encompass 20 registration lines, of which 10 in Al Ghubaiba Registration Center, 8 in Al Nasseriya Registration Center and 2 in Kalbaa Registration Center.

Over the past 6 months, the Emirates Identity Authority opened 4 registration centers, these being Al Dhaid Center, which includes 3 registration lines, Al Hamriya Free Zone Registration Center, Sharjah International Airport Free Zone Registration Center and Dibba Al Hisn Registration Center, which include 2 registration lines each.

With the ID card registration procedures linked with residence, a customer should fill out a registration form at an authorized typing office before going to the preventive medicine center for medical examination. Subsequently, the customer should go directly to the Emirates Identity Authority’s center annexed to the preventive medicine center in order to complete the ID card registration procedures (fingerprinting and photography) and then apply for completed residence issuance or renewal procedures.

The importance of the project of linking ID card registration procedures with residence visa issuance or renewal is embodied in the results expected to be achieved after the project is completed across the UAE, most probably by the end of 2011. These results include developing the population register by raising the daily registration capacity to around 22,000 registrants through the centers annexed to the preventive medicine centers and all Emirates Identity Authority-affiliated registration centers and offices, which is equal to 500,000 registrants per month.
