In continuation of its efforts to simplify and facilitate registration procedures, the Emirates Identity Authority has launched a service for re-issuing lost and damaged ID cards through its authorized typing offices.

By this new initiative, the Emirates Identity Authority seeks to unify the procedures related to filling out the e-form in the typing offices for all customers.

These new procedures are aimed at making it easy for customers to get their different transactions finalized easily and smoothly as per clear and unified mechanisms that contribute to accurately inputting the data for subsequent verification.

the Emirates Identity Authority announced that the services related to issuing substitute ID cards for lost and damaged ones through typing offices would be available for all UAE nationals and residents in cases of lost or damaged ID cards.

The documents required for filling out a form for the issuance of a substitute ID card for a damaged one are the same documents required in the registration process plus the damaged ID card.

As for a substitute ID card for a lost one, the customer should first visit an Emirates Identity Authority registration center, where he/she will get an ID card number confirmation certificate issued and sealed. He/she, however, should present a supporting document. Subsequently, he/she should visit a typing office, where the certificate and all the documents required in the registration process will be scanned.

The Emirates Identity Authority clarified that issuing substitute ID cards for lost and damaged ones does not need customers to visit the registration centers for fingerprints and photos, adding that it would be enough for them to fill out the form related to the service of renewing ID cards in the typing offices.

The Emirates Identity Authority noted that in case his/her previous fingerprints are of a lower quality, the card owner will be required to check with the Emirates Identity Authority-affiliated registration centers for new fingerprints by means of a printed message, which will appear on the e-form filled in the typing offices.

It is noteworthy that the fees of issuing a substitute ID card for a lost or damaged one are AED300 for all nationalities and all age categories. In case an application is submitted for issuing a substitute card for a lost or damaged card, which is already expired, renewal fees will be added to the AED300 in addition to only AED70 in service charges.
