The Emirates Identity Authority has discussed with the German company of Bundesdruckerei GmbH means of co-operation in the field of manufacturing and supplying raw ID card materials with high security specifications, considering that the company is one of the leading participants in the tender launched recently by the Emirates Identity Authority for supplying ID cards and manufacturing cards in the UAE.
The Emirates Identity Authority’s new initiative is aimed at reducing the operating costs, particularly under the increasing production of daily printed ID cards.
According to the preliminary estimates initiative is slated to save AED100 million over the coming 5 years and create tens of new job opportunities for UAE nationals.
The state-owned Bundescruckerei GmBH was established in 1763 and specializes in producing security documents such as ID cards, passports and driving licences for many countries including Germany, United Kingdom and some countries of the European Union in addition to China, Peru and Venezuela. The company is regarded as the world’s biggest producer of banknotes, not to mention that it is the supplier of passports and new ePassport in the UAE.
