Dr. Ali Moh’d Al-Khouri, the conference is an opportunity for the exchange of expertise and acquaintance with the successful identity programs implemented by the government Authorities.
Emirates Identity Authority shall take part in the forthcoming International Identification Cards Conference in Milano, Italy on Tuesday. The conference shall continue for 3 days with a worldwide participation by number of European Union Ministers in addition to an elite of experts in the technology of Secured Identification Card.
In a press conference, H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Moh’d Al-Khouri, Acting Director General praised the unlimited support extended by the U.A.E. prudent leadership to the significant and strategic projects implemented by the Authority in addition to the contribution in supporting the Authority to achieve its goals and reflect its vision and message.
He added that the valued directions by H.H. Lt. Gen. Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Vice-Chairman of Emirates Identity Authority to the Authority to participate in such international conferences were intended to provide an opportunity to the Authority to exchange important ideas, profound experiences and to be acquainted with the successful experience of other delegations at the international conferences in the field of identification cards and population record systems.
H.H. the Acting Director General stated that the Authority participation in this international conference comes as a continuation for previous participations in similar international forums and conferences to discuss the identity related technology issues. The last conference in which the Authority participated was the international forum for identity cards in the capital Abu Dhabi, last February which was successfully hosted by the Authority for two rounds.
He added that the international conference is exclusively important due to the diversified subjects and issues to be discussed in three days which are actually sub-divided into three main initiatives i.e. the conference, exhibition and intercommunication initiatives between the organizations concerned with identity cards, the suppliers and scientific solutions providers with the aim to exchange experience and provide solutions for the identity programmes implemented by government authorities and others.
Dr. Eng. Ali Moh’d Al-Khouri said that the conference would focus on the latest and state-of-the-art digital technology in the national identity documents which in turn shall be based on significant achievements made by the previous conferences and forums in Berlin, Rome, Paris, Milano, Istanbul and Abu Dhabi. This came as a continuation of the previous successful events and functions which were strongly supported by U.A.E. Ministry of Interior, French Ministry of Interior, German Ministry of Interior, Italian Ministry of Interior and the European Community.
They mentioned that there is a number of important issues to be discussed at Milano conference such as the security and protection of the identity cards by using all types of technology and its applications at various sectors especially the E-government, the advanced identification documents in both public and private sectors including electronic passports and visas in addition to the national ID cards, driver’s license, health cards, entry passes, smart cards, electronic payment systems, radio frequency identification technology in addition to stating the motives behind the use of digital technology in the national identity documents.
The Director General of the Authority expressed his hope to see the Authority making most out of such active participation in the ID Card International Conference side by side with the international delegations, headed by number of ministers and elite of high ranking government officials and experts to discuss and analyze most of the basic and critical issues.
