The Emirates Identity Authority has held a co-ordination meeting with the National Bureau of Statistics to put a roadmap to elaborate and apply the project of the national network of statistics based on the population register database at the Emirates Identity Authority.
Under this project, the National Bureau of Statistics will co-ordinate with all ministries and federal authorities in the UAE to set up statistical units aimed at enriching the statistical system in the UAE and providing the necessary support for decision-making at all levels.
During the meeting, H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, reiterated the Emirates Identity Authority’s orientations contained in its strategic plan 2010-2013 for supporting the smart statistical system to enable decision-makers to draft the leadership-related policies and orientations in the UAE.
Al Khouri clarified that the Emirates Identity Authority is seeking to provide a bank of updated and accurate information instantly and in all statistical dimensions based on the population register database. He referred to the experiences of advanced countries in benefiting from and depending on databases, electronic records and administrative registers (such as the population register) for providing statistical indices without the need to conduct field surveys on samples of the population.
Al Khouri stated that the Emirates Identity Authority would carry out statistical work on the data of the population register by the time of completion of the system and would provide statistics of more comprehensive dimensions due to the fact that the person’s file contains a lot of demographic information.
It is noteworthy that the Emirates Identity Authority is currently carrying out a project for the electronic linkage infrastructure with UAE organizations responsible for registering the individuals’ civil incidents. The project will ensure safe and accurate provision of the data related to the personal file of the holders of ID cards.
This comes as part of the Emirates Identity Authority’s keenness on ensuring the best electronic linkage with the aim of providing the data required for supporting decision-making together with accurate and instant statistical data for decision-makers about the demography of the population, depending on the population register system at the Emirates Identity Authority, whose data are highly precise and secure.
The meeting was attended by a delegation from the National Bureau of Statistics headed by Abdul Qader Al Masawi Bin Hashem, Executive Director of Statistical Sectors.
