The Emirates Identity Authority has started printing and producing ID cards in the new operations center in the specialized economic zones in Musaffah (ICAD 1), which is a comprehensive center for printing ID cards at a production capacity of up to 27,000 cards per day.
The new operations center comes within the framework of actual implementation of one of the most important initiatives of the Emirates Identity Authority’s strategy 2010-2013 aimed at improving the printing of ID cards in line with the Emirates Identity Authority’s main objective of registering all the population in ID card and keeping a precise, secure and updated population register.
The center features a number of the world’s latest printing machines, which are fully independent in terms of printing, verifying and enveloping the ID card automatically without any human intervention while responding to the protection criteria and the high confidentiality levels as demanded by the related international standards. These machines ensure that the ID cards are protected and their case is tracked in all stages in line with the world’s best practices in the field of managing the population register systems.
The center, which has been approved by Visa Inc. in terms of protection and confidentiality criteria related to the production of cards, also contains an Emirates Identity Authority-affiliated data center containing secure segments for hosting all parts of the infrastructures that serve the Emirates Identity Authority’s work and the strategic electronic projects that contribute to providing electronic ID services and ensuring electronic linkage across the UAE.
It is noteworthy that the total area of the new operations center is approximately 13,500 square meters and features a building for printing ID cards and another building for the new data center, which contains the latest electronic control and protection systems to ensure that the highest protection and confidentiality standards are met.
