The Emirates Identity Authority has announced that it has responded to the call of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may Allah save him, which he made yesterday for donating blood to the thalassemia patients in the UAE.

The Emirates Identity Authority’s family has affirmed its constant readiness to participate in such humanitarian, social and national initiatives, which reflect the nobleness, cohesion and compassionof the UAE society, both as leadership and people, with the aim of supporting the blood transfusion programs in the UAE and supplying blood to the UAE hospitals, particularly for the children suffering from thalassemia who need blood transfusion on a constant basis.

The Emirates Identity Authority clarified that in co-ordination with the concerned entities it started taking the necessary procedures to participate in the campaign from next Sunday, enabling its employees across the UAE to donate blood in their places of work, beginning from the head office in Abu Dhabi.

“It is the responsibility of everyone in the community, both individuals and organizations, to take part in supporting our blood banks”, Sheikh Mohammed said.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, tweeted to his followers: “My happiness is beyond description having donated blood at Latifa Hospital. I thanks and am proud of all blood donors.”

Sheikh Mohammed replied with another tweet in which he said: “Heard of a shortage in donated blood in our hospitals, I headed to Latifa Hospital to do my duty.”

He added: “Just visited the thalassemia center in Dubai and met with a group of children there. I ask Allah to relieve and heal them.”

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, also donated blood in response to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s call for donating blood to the thalassemia patients at Latifa Hospital.
