A number of Emirates Identity Authority’s employees have participated in a ceremony to launch the National Campaign for Child Rights Awareness held under the slogan “Haqqi Aliakum” (My Right on You) under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman for Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

The campaign, which will continue till November 3, is organized by the Ministry of Justice in co-operation with the General Women’s Union, Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Department of Social Affairs in Sharjah.

In his statement marking the launch of the campaign, H.E. Dr. Hadif Bin Jou’an Al Dhahiri, Minister of Justice, expressed the warmest thanks, appreciation and gratitude for Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Mother of UAE, for sponsoring this campaign and for her ongoing keenness on ensuring mother care and childcare in the UAE. He affirmed that the UAE was always in the lead in terms of providing legislative protection to child rights through the constitutional provisions and other relevant laws.

During the event, Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Al Shummari, Director of Ministry of Interior Child Protection Center, reviewed a working paper titled “Supreme Child Protection Committee.. Initiatives & Achievements” in which he clarified the role of the Supreme Child Protection Committee, which was formed under the directives of Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, with the aim of achieving the highest standards of protection and safety for children and familiarizing the society with the dangers which they are exposed to. The committee’s members include many official entities in the UAE, among which is the Emirates Identity Authority.

Al Shummari pointed out that the committee, which is chaired by Major General Nasser Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of His Highness the Minister of Interior’s Office, has many affiliates including a subcommittee for following up membership requirements in the virtual world power; a subcommittee for following up legislative development requirements and the regulating controls; a subcommittee for awareness, media and research; and a subcommittee for studying the modifications to the organizational structure and establishing Ministry of Interior childcare centers.
