The Emirates Identity Authority has launched an advertising campaign on tens of public transport buses in a number of emirates. The campaign was held under the slogan of “Register Now…Don’t wait until the last minute” in both Arabic and English languages.

Abdul Aziz Al Maamari, Director of Public Relations and Marketing, Emirates Identity Authority, said: “The launch of this advertising campaign comes as part of the Emirates Identity Authority’s efforts to urge the UAE population to speed up registering in the population register and ID card and renewing expired ID cards and not to wait until the last minute of the grace periods given for registration or renewal so as to avoid the delay fees approved by the Cabinet’s decision no. 25 for 2011.

The Emirates Identity Authority previously commenced its campaign by publishing its advertisement on a number of public transport buses of the Department of  Transport in Abu Dhabi before expanding its campaign to include a number of buses that belonged to the Roads & Transport Authority- Dubai and Sharjah Public Transport Corporation.

Al Maamari added: “Our advertising campaign on public transport buses will continue for 4 months for urging all the UAE population to register in the ID card and avoid the delay penalties as per the timeline announced several months ago. It is aimed at expediting the completion of the population register program and ID card project, which will pave the way for a stage where innovated electronic government services are provided.”

Al Maamari clarified that the Emirates Identity Authority’s selection of public transport buses is based on the fact that they are used by a large number of the population and can consequently influence them.

Al Maamari pointed out that this campaign is part of an extensive advertising campaign that the Emirates Identity Authority commenced nearly 2 months ago for distributing 2 million brochures under the same slogan. Of the total number of brochures, 450,000 copies were deposited in the post office boxes across the UAE while the remaining brochures were distributed through the authorized typing centers, the service points of many UAE government authorities and all Emirates Identity Authority-affiliated registration centers, he said.

The campaign is aimed at conveying a brief message to customers signifying that obtaining an ID card has become extremely easy and requires only filling out a registration form at an authorized typing center across the UAE before visiting a registration center for completing the registration procedures, Al Maamari said.

It is noteworthy that many government entities in the UAE officially started over the past months to announce their adoption of the ID card as a main document for benefiting from their services. This is in line with the Emirates Identity Authority’s mission and vision for rendering the ID card the most valuable card in the UAE in the near future, thanks to the solutions and applications to be provided by the Emirates Identity Authority. This move will contribute to enhancing the national and individual security and minimizing ID card thefts, not to mention its role in keeping a precise population register and providing innovated electronic services.

Public buses are one of the major means of transport in the UAE and are used by hundreds of thousands of people daily, which reflects their importance as a means of transport and a means of awareness of the public including passengers and road users as the size of a bus helps advertisements to be published clearly and directly to be seen by millions of people on streets.
